It's nice to see how everyone is progressing, my mind has been elsewhere the past week or so, so it feels a bit late to go back and comment everything, but gazing through it all, it looks great! We'll soon be at APL, all of us

I let my hair air dry today and braided it just before it was completely dry to get prettier waves, when i took out the braids I noticed just how much darker the hair at the back of my head (the bottom 5 cm or so that grows out of my head) is than the rest of my hair. I knew it was darker from before, but I never really noticed how much darker it is.

I'm not a sun-lover, I avoid the sun and quite often wear something that covers my head, but I guess it's hard to avoid some lightening effect on the upper layers, though the hair that grows directly out of my head are lighter in the front and on the top of my head than it is in the back, so it's probably a genetic thing as well, my hair just grows darker there.

I thought it looked kinda funny so I took some photos just to show the difference (had to pull a strand from the back of my head, but it shows well). Anyone else got something like this going on?

ETA: forgot to mention, in the very nape I got a streak of light blonde hair, that's pretty funny too!

Andthetalltrees That stage gives me anxiety! Though...you're right, it does feel super soft!

_fred_ I think I just dislike the feeling of it on my back, and I dread the shedding that comes after a wash. I fingercomb and hate the feeling of the hairs coming out I generally don't put it up because then it will take 6-7 hours extra to dry. I have been very slowly weening myself off of hair oiling pre-poo completely (scalp -> ears down -> half hair -> post shower) which I suspect may have been causing the extra fallout.

Corvana Thanks for the suggestion! I will give it a try on next week's wash and check in.

Popping in to say hey! I still have a long way to go, but I can reach the very ends behind my back in the shower, so some progress is being made. Alright, back into the shadows I go!

Definitely growing. More hair is getting stuck under my jacket. I can put my front layers into a nice, neat half-up.

Woohoo for progress!! Last night I tipped my head back a bit so I could feel my hair at about APL I'm so impatient lol

Woohoo!! It's much too hot for a jacket here, so I can't really do that test without wanting to melt . And I don't pay attention when I put on my shirt (it's really so automatic for me), so I have no idea if I'm pulling more hair from the neck hole...

Also: I timed my dry last night! Took a little over 3 hours, and I clipped up the dry sections to let the underneath dry. Next time I might turn on the fan on my desk to see if that helps any...

The front is already at APL, but the back still has about 2 more inches to go. I have an angled cut so the front is a bit longer. And that's if I stretch it, which I typically don't when measuring, I just let my wurls do their thing.

Wow that's so pretty! I think Ive seen blondes have colour contrast like that before, not quite as much as yours though.

Mine is... Exactly the opposite! Minus anything being at APL, of course lol. My cut is shorter in the front by maybe an inch or two. It looks like way more, though, because the front all curls up at my shoulders. If I stretch it a bit they'll hang a good inch longer, but as soon as I turn my head to the side up they go again

I honestly think that's why I'm a little anxious about my growth and whether or not they're the "real" numbers. It still looks SL, so my brain is like "you must have done something wrong then when you measured and when you took the pictures."

This is probably going to be the hardest stage for me because of it, too And while I'd love to have wavy hair, I don't think I could handle the anxiety I'd get. It'd be like this, but always!

I have a similar hair colour to yours. I don't think it's caused by the sun alone because I have it even with very short hair.
