Hi guys! I am joining this thread. I just cut back from between APL and BSL to collarbone length to get rid of layers. I still have some layers left in the front and chin length growing out bangs, but I got most of the layers out by cutting. From now on I will do regular 1/2 inch trims. I haven't decided how often yet, but I have realized that a blunt looking hemline and as thick looking ends as possible is what I want for my hair. Growing out like this is going to be slower, but I will enjoy every stage more. That means I will be hanging around here for a while. I will start by looking in this thread for hair styles.

Are any of you growing out layers? If so, how in earth do you S&D the shortest ones? My eyes can take much more.

I should be at APL in March. Just watching the clock!

I stalled this month as well, but I have more strands dragging my shoulders when wet, oddly enough. I guess some of my hair wanted to catch up.

I am now! Instead of tweezing out the damaged hair like usual I cut them in particular places and I cut off a loooot; the majority were trimmed maybe an inch or two but there were definitely some 5"+ pieces, and some I cut all the way at the top

It was really satisfying to ball up all the cut pieces and feel how disgusting and crunchy they were because they're no longer on my head, strange I know. My hair is probably a bunch of weird lengths but it's mostly at APL still and I don't intend to wear it out so whatever I figure I'll let it get to waist and do a mostly-even even chop back to BSL, and then keep on growing...

    Merry belated Chrismahanukwanzakah everyone!!

Oh how frustrating it is. I am still finding entire rubber band strands from previous bleaching. I feel your pain. Your plan to wait until waist then chop is similar to what I am planning. I'm growing between waist and hip then trimming a cm a month after that. I may end up trimming more if my hair needs it though.

So I'm a big dummy and just realized I didn't actually answer your question...

I had a second round of "purge the crunchies with scissors" and I found quite a few on the shorter layers of my hair. Did you mean "how do you deal with the fact that you can only pull them so far in in your line of vision", because that was a PAIN! Even with a mirror my eyes hurt after a while of trying to look all the way to one side of my head for an extended period. I find that using the mirror and going by feel was the only way to do it and if you have a thick head of hair it's going to take a loooong while, possibly multiple attempts (like me, I can only take about 30 minutes of it at a time).

Just as I feared when I do buns now there are a bunch of pokey sections of hairs but hopefully that'll sort itself out in a month or two; the feeling of stroking my head and feeling a LOT less crunch is too satisfying for me to be mad about it...
