Thank you! I have tried coconut oil, jojoba oil, and olive oil

    Ive never tried argan oil.

I personally love coconut oil, but everyone differs. I also use argan oil, which is great at smoothing fly-aways.
Thats awesome! You are so close!

LOL Awesome Arctic! I can't wait to see it. I will keep everyone updated.

I have not really ever figured this question out. From what I understand coconut oil is proteiny which some hair doesn't like. That is about all my oil knowledge.

Thank you so much vpatt! I am looking forward to November when I do my official measurements.

Congratulations to everyone getting close to graduating ^^ I haven't checked this thread for a few days, now suddenly people seem to be making good progress, it's very inspiring. I've decided to stop trying to measure my hair (I'm really bad at it) and instead take photo at the end of each month, to stop me obsessing. Seems to be working well so far and I've resisted all urges to check in between months. I've been following the advice from a few pages ago and wearing it up a lot and not worrying about it. Some (simple!) braids and buns, plus the suggested half up styles seem to be working a lot better than a month or so ago, perhaps I've got that critical extra smidgen of length that makes these styles look better on me. Anyway, I'm enjoying my hair again and feeling in no rush to graduate, although of course I'm still looking forward to longer lengths!

This is a common misconception. Coconut oil contains no protein, but what it does is bind to the protein already in your hair, which is wonderful for some people, but it can mimic the effects of protein overload for others.

I microtrimmed my hair two days ago. I just keep getting velcro ends, and all the usual remedies like clarifying/chelating/deep treatments just aren't working. I'm probably due for an actual haircut, but I'm trying to save what length I've gained by trimming the tiniest amounts. I think I just wear my hair down too much, and that's causing my velcro/splits issues. It's so frustrating to be ALMOST THERE for months. I might join the Wear Your Hair Up thread and get really serious about protective styles.

    Sounds good attitude and plan!

I also just today decided to stop measuring (did I already write about this to in other thread, lol?). I don't have help, and I just can't get trustworthy measurements, plus I notice it has started to be on my mind a bit too much. I am happier when I forget my hair. Today's measurement implied reversed growth, again. Last month the measument implied 3 cm growth, which is just not reality for my hair. The measurement before that, if I remember correctly, was also less than the month before. And I don't have breakage. So yeah Photos are crappy measuring tools also, if I take 10 photos each looks different length.

Yea even with the shirt I marked it can be difficult. I must pull at the shirt a bit differently sometimes when I put it on.

Oh thank you for the clarification. It wasn't something I ever read in depth just something I saw referenced in peoples posts and such. Thanks for the explanation. Yeah, I have to start being more serious about protective updos at about this length as well. Too bad because this is a fun stage to wear hair down since you finally start feeling like there is hair.

Sounds like a good plan for you. I know what you mean about pictures! I always get consistent results with measuring but I swear every picture looks a little different.

Well, today I called it. I'm officially at shoulder length! Now on to collarbone length. Let the impatient waiting begin.

Mtipton10 - Welcome! I am new here myself!

molljo - Thanks for the info on the coconut oil - I didn't know that!

Anyone taking collagen? I just ordered some that should be here today. I am also interested in it's other health benefits, but the hair growth would be nice too!

I have pretty much given up on measuring too! It's not very accurate for me with the waves.

This week, I am finally trying out the inversion method. I am massaging a mix of coconut and castor oils to my head before I invert. You should see how big my hair is after I flip back up!!! ha!

I take grass fed gelatin (collagen) in my tea/coffee in the morning. I use he one in the green container so it easily mixes and doesn't make my tea a jelly candy when it cools. I've noticed some decrease in shedding (I think, I've only been doing it for about a month), my GI system seems to be working better, and my skin has been clearer.

I tried the inversion method once a few weeks ago. I only used oil on the first day - otherwise I'd just look a mess until my next washing). Not sure if it did anything but it felt great! I read, whether or not it speeds hair growth, that scalp massages strengthen the hair follicle leading to reduced breakage in the future. All good things! If you have increased shedding, like I did, it's likely hair that was on its way to being shed anyway and you're clearing he rubble for new sprouts!
