Also, I just realized that my hair is longer in the front and shorter in the back so growing it out is going to be annoying. Anyone grown out a cut like that without trimming the front? I feel like it will just look weird if I don't trim.
My hair grows like that too. I used to get the front trimmed more than the back to keep it in a U shape, but sadly, my hair stayed the same length. I now leave it alone and let it do its thing. I keep it in a bun or braids so I don't notice the ends as much. When it gets longer I may try to even my hemline, as for now, I am leaving it be.

My hair is also like that - growing from a bob that was longer in the front, with some annoying layers in the back. I think I will try to grow to APL, then maintain there for a bit while I get rid of some damage and get everything to a nice even hemline before I start growing to BSL. I hate the "hair flips up at shoulders" stage I am at now so much I can't bear the thought of maintaining at this length, even if that means my hair will be longer at the front for a while.

I feel like I've made no progress at all. Well, better make myself comfortable here, I'm going to spend here a while

Yes I think that is my plan too.

hmm thats a good point, I definitely am prone to pyramid head.

I sometimes pin the longer pieces back with bobby pins to make them appear more level and get them off my face simultaneously, but I think this is deffinately better than ''outgrown mullet'' what happens if the hair is longer at the back. Also, it will be a lot easier to get a blunt hemline once it's longer!
That is for sure! I have done the outgrown mullet way too much in my growing out life.

Yeah, Im trying to figure out what hemline I want. I do like a U shape but it never seems to work out for me.

Thats exactly my hair right now too. The annoying layers in the back really make it do that flip up at shoulders thing. Which is where my hair is right now.

I think I'm more or less at CBL now, but...uuuuuuuugh. My hair just seems to be growing so slowly. I think APL by next Christmas is optimistic right now.
    Pixie - Chin - Neck - Shoulder - Collarbone - APL - BSL - Waist

It looks quite thick, so it will probably get really long! Love the texture!

I'm at the annoying flip up phase too! It's not quite shoulder length, but it should be within the next 2 months if my sides will stop flipping up lol. I'm growing out a pixie, so the middle is *slightly* longer but I don't want to trim it up...mainly because I'm lazy...

The thread has been moving so fast I can't possibly comment on everyone's posts: be sure, though, that I have been reading along. Nice to see so many posting here!

Just wanted to post I recently found out I can claim new hairstyle to my repertoire! I can now make milkmaid braids! I wasn't that many months ago, when I failed miserably due to lack of length!

The trick is to start the braids higher up, near your ears! Also, when you braid, keep the sections of hair upwards and forward, so basically you are braiding to the direction you want the braid to go in the finished style. And lastly - this is optional - in the end, gently tug the hairs near the back part a bit looser, so that the scalp showing from the parting becomes less visible (at best I've gotten it almost invisible!).

Let me know if others have already been able to conquer this style (For the records, my hair is almost half-way between shoulder and APL and my hair is on the thinner side of medium thickness.)

Always behave like a duck -
keep calm and unruffled on the surface but paddle like the devil underneath.

I grew out from a bob that was longer in the front too, and it made it easy to wear up sooner. Now it just looks straight and blunt at the hemline.

Here is my first (messy) lazy wrap bun!

This is the longest my hair has been in 17 years! Just one more inch and I will be at APL...

I have what I think is shoulder or collarbone length....but I don't think I can post pictures. I need to learn more....love this site. Can you stretch it or does it have to reach on its own. Do you need 25 posts before you can do pictures?
