Sorry this is so big. I can't seem to get it any smaller. It looks like I'm just brushing APL, but I want to get the ends that are still on my shoulders to APL before I call it.

I'm newly shoulder/collarbone length, having been BSL until about a week ago. Shortest I've had my hair in years. Sadly the damage on my hair was just way too much (and when you find split ends so bad that it stretches over 10 cms, you kind of know it's a done deal) - so closed my eyes and took the snip. The only thing that has me happy about my hair right now is the fact that I can look down at the ends and not see a single split and that I get to have a nice fresh start!

So here I am, making my presence known Thanks for having me!

welcome! Good for you for having the courage to make a fresh start! What I keep telling myself is that my hair will never be this short again and so I should enjoy it. That's made the growing out process a little less tiresome. Happy growing

Growing since April 2014. Currently around TBL.

Welcome LiiAme! You're in good company here and healthy is better - I chopped to chin twice to get rid of damage at the start of this year and it hurt, but it also made my hair feel fantastic.

    SunlightShines you're looking really close!

I am not as close as I keep trying to convince myself... I don't know if I will be APL by new year or not:

At Christmas I will take a towel pic and see. Meanwhile, it's not a bad place to hang out. Maybe we should all post awesome updos or braids we manage at this length to inspire each other. I know normally I'm just claw clipping it up.

Hello everyone! I'll be lurking here as I had my APL length hair cut to just over SLH last week, to get rid of damage. My hair would be BSL by now if I hadn't bleached it from dark red to platinum in increments since April, but thanks to LHC it's in really amazing condition considering what's its been through. My hair thickness has doubled in the last two years, and I can do a vast array of mean plaits

LiiAme, when your hair is split-end free it makes for some amazing hair swooshing Before my cut my hair stuck together like velcro, but now I see that the effort in hair care and growing was worth it. Good luck on your fresh start!

SunlightShines your hair is a truly gorgeous shape, made me go 'Oooooh' when I opened the page

Moontree your hair looks like it grows so quickly! I hope you can reach your goal by new year.

I think it'll take me until March. I can't do plaits on my hair anymore as it's lots of different lengths. I need some advice on protective updos for shorter hair. I've just been using big velvet scrunchies and buns, which er, never stay put and are too easy for me to take down and mess about with. I will try to post pictures later of what I come up with.

Just checking in because I've been gone from the forum for a bit. I'm so jealous of everyone who's on track to reach APL by Christmas! I have at least until next summer. Next month I have my biannual trim planned just to maintain the shape because fairytale ends on my hair bug the crap out of me, at least at this length.

Welcome back, molljo. Don't despair, you'll get there. Hair will grow.

Queentamora, I've been putting my hair in a Gibson Tuck now, it just complicated enough that I try not to touch it during the day. But it's also very easy and protective. I guess this updo will only be harder with longer hair.

I'm also trying to do this without hairtie, but just one clawclip, as a variation on the pinless bun (just tuck it all in..).

I've found this thread for inspiration as well.

I'll post some pictures when I figure out how to..

    Hi!
    Guess I belong here too!
I chopped my hair yesterday from almost hip length to shoulder length because of a bleach disaster, but now my hair feels so healthy and thick and makes me want to grow it again!
You have all beautiful hair from what I have seen browsing through the thread!
Good luck to everyone on their journey!

I don't think I am going to make APL until Feb/March now. My ends are so straggly - I really need to try to even out my hem, but am loathe to cut as the ends are in OK condition. The damn layers make it look really damaged when actually it isn't.

I R-E-A-L-L-Y want APL hair now.
