Measured in at 30.5" today!! Since 32" is waist for me, I'm excited to be so close! Yipee!
Edited to add: the only problem is now I'm thinking I want hip length. Lol
Hey TheLuckyLurker!
We're not exactly hair twins as my hair is more on the straight/wavy side than curly...But I have the same problem as you. No matter what I do, my ends go to hell after a certain length. For me, it's BSL. My hair is around 27 inches long (stretched) and the splits and dry ends have reared their ugly heads, despite me babying them. I use gentle shampoos, conditioners, handling techniques, and oils. I'm very cautious to make sure my hair doesn't get caught in anything. And still...Split ends.
I do dye my hair, however, I did it for the first time in years a month ago. (My hair was completely virgin) but I was having the problem with splits before I dyed it, so I know that's not the cause of my problem. Sure, it didn't help, but I'm happier with my hair now that it's a color I actually like.
What's your routine like? Have you tried the CG method? It might help with some of the problems you're having.

Ive got about 4 inches to go until waist but need 6 inches in order for it to look at waist due to waves/ curls
So that will be a year from now. I'm looking forward to having waist length hair.
Well, these last couple washes I've used a different conditioner -Herbal Essences Hello Hydration- and it seems a bit better. Not as good as I'd like, but enough to make a noticeable difference. So, I need something like Hello Hydration but... more?
As far as Curly girl goes, a good bit of it just isn't compatible. CO washing doesn't work for me, because I need medicated shampoo for my scalp. And other aspects, like applying multiple products to soaking wet hair, and leaving it down to air dry just aren't workable.
My routine: CWC, then let the conditioner-soaked hair sit under a plastic cap for half an hour before I get back in the shower and rinse (as well as my normal shower stuff). I leave it wrapped in a towel for 2 hours. Then I spray it with Aussie leave-in conditioner, Tangle Tease it, oil it with olive oil, TT it again. Then I use a silky scrunchie to ponytail it like I would for Feye's trim (sliding it down to the ends) and leave it like that for a few hours. This is so it's fanned and stretched out so the air can circulate through it to dry it without it going out of control. Then I TT it one last time and english braid it, pinning the braid to my head so it doesn't rub against my back (I take out the pins for bed).
I am OFFICIALLY BSL so I can finally join you guys! YAY! <3 IDK exactly what length my hair is, I'm not allowed to measure until September (I'm getting slightly obsessed :P ) but I am 5 inches away from Waist. Ugh. It seems so far away. :/
What is so annoying is that I'm a little past BSL with my hair stretched and when wet, but my hair when curly is a couple of inches away from BSL ...
