Hi! I'm new here and my hair is currently around 28 inches (2" away from waist), so I guess I'll be in this thread for a little while! My hair grows slower than average unfortunately but I've recently learned to trim it myself. Hopefully that reduces the amount of unnecessary trimming. Anyway, happy growing everyone!

Well, I had a pleasant surprise this month--I thought my hair was just an inch shy of waist-length, but it turns out about half of it is just about waist-length already! Waist on me is pretty much elbow or navel-length, since my torso is frustrating. YAY, I CAN START MAINTAINING AFTER A COUPLE OF MORE INCHES!

Here's a shot of the length (first pic) and a more accurate shot of where it actually hits (second pic):

biogirl87 thank you for your answer, I think I'll go for a 2-week rule or I might even extend it to a month, and I'll see if I still want it

I think I finally belong here. Today I measured 27 inches! That's halfway between apl and waist for me. Merry Christmas to me.

Going for terminal, but also enjoying wearing my hair down and curly.

Checking in! For the last few months my hair has just not been growing. Maybe a quarter inch in about 2 months! It was so aggravating that I decided to take a little break from LHC and stop obsessing.

Then this week it seemed to be getting longer. Felt longer, I could get an extra turn in my braid, all those things. So I measured and it's grown almost 3/4 of an inch since the start of December! Finally! Just about 2 more inches to waist!

Thanks for the compliments and congratulations on everyone else's progress!

Squiggy: Don't worry about the slow growth right now--a lot of people in the Northern Hemisphere have either slower hair-growth or it's completely stopped due to winter.

And one problem with thick hair like mine is that at nearly waist-length, I can only manage about six or seven bumps in a single braid. *bleh*

Yes, its one thing to know a slow period is normal, it's another to see everyone else's beautiful hair and wish mine was as close to waist as yours!

I feel you on the thick hair business. I can get about 12 bumps going all the way to the ends, but then my layers are poking out like crazy!

Ugh, layers. I used to have them, but they always grew out after a few months. That's one reason I decided to grow my hair out--less money going into keeping the style from reverting to normal.
