So really, I've been measuring at waist for a few weeks now. I've been hesitant to call it, though, because my ends are so darned thin. Plus, on wavier days even those don't really reach waist unless I pull them straight.

My plan has been to start microtrimming when those thin ends reached waist, though, and maintain at waist for a while until more of my hair has reached the ends. So I've started doing that--I trimmed ~1/4" on December 8, and ~1/8" yesterday.

Here's my hair yesterday... it was a straighter day for my hair, and a great soft, well-behaved hair day at that, so I figured it was a good moment to beg a photo out of DBF. This is a few hours before I microtrimmed a teeny tiny bit. If you look closely, you can see that the longest hairs do indeed go a little past my thumbs, which are at waist.

Still, so few hairs reach waist, I'm not sure if I can really call it yet. I may be straddling this thread and the Microtrimming & Maintaining thread for a while until my hair feels more solidly waist. What do y'all think? Does this count as waist? Or should I wait to call it while I trim away those silly little hairs that are sticking out beyond the real, hidden hemline?
I've seen other people call it at the point you are now, so if you want to call it, go right ahead. The camera angle might be fooling with how it looks, just a bit, however. I think your plan of microtrimming until you have a more solid waist is good. I keep trying to tell myself that's what I'm going to do, but somehow, I just seem to enjoy my regularly scheduled microtrims 3-4 times a year.

I got my hair caught in the car door about two weeks ago, I had brushed it out and was about to put it up when one of the kids needed something so I figured I'd do my hair while my husband drove. Then all the sudden I could not turn my head. Oops...

My ends have gone on a crazy wacko behaviour problem, in the photo i posted last time, it showed that i have a U shape hemline but when it dried, my hair was fairly even so my ends flip inwards and outwards all the time which makes it hard to take good photos....ahh well I will have to take a photo again to show what I mean but when I catch my ends behaving again.

Your birthday is one day (and 10 years) after mine! Yay virgos!

I posted last week about wanting to wait to trim until past waist and then the next day I got a trim! I am a flake! But the hair dresser really listened to what I asked for and even suggested that I would be good with 3/4" instead of one inch cut off She complemented the condition and color of my hair (she asked if my color was natural) and my ends feel great! I will not be trimming until waist for sure so at least another year but I'm thinking once a year or so will be best for my hair.

    Not trimming until 2023

Well, from what I can see in your sig, I'd say your hemline is lovely and thick! Seems to me your 3-4 microtrims a year are doing it for you. Maybe if I had been doing that the last couple of years instead of just S&D'ing, my hemline would be thicker now. Oh well! Maybe that's what I'll settle into once I get rid of the last scraggly few inches.

Yes, I oil my hair religiously. It is lightly oiled in that pic, enough to keep it relatively tangle-free.

Finally at Waist... with a few hairs, anyway. Slowly snipping now!

Thank you! I made the mistake of having framing layers cut into my hair a while back and I'm still waiting to trim those out, but so far, I'm happy with the 3-4 trims a year. I'm so close to waist, I can almost taste it, lol!

Tini's NewHair & SleepyTangles, I use olive oil on my over night oilings which I do once in a week. It has changed my hair so much better, but everything can't be fixed. I don't seem to get any noticeable results with coconut oil so I've used avocado oil to slightly oil my ends now. Although, I have been slacking with oiling my ends daily lately...

    Thank you for tips!
