I wish my hair would just grow an inch in a month TT^TT It feels like I have so long to go before APL... but on the bright side I got new claw clips and I can do some very sturdy up-dos with them! And I have some very exciting news... my hair got thicker!!! At some point a while ago [possibly even before the big chop] I had measured my ponytail circumference and it was 2.5'', and then it got to 3'' and stayed there for a while... but yesterday I measured again [multiple times] and my ponytail circumference is now 3.25''!!! I was so worried about the stress shedding I'd been doing but apparently I don't have anything to worry about

My hair has always been on the thinner side because I have a lot of hair but the strands are very thin, so gaining thickness is a serious plus for me!

Random thing to share:

My natural part has migrated to the center. (I've worn it parted diagonally from my right eyebrow across the top of my head for 15 years.) I look like a hippie.

I feel like I'm so far away from APL, and because my waves are so unpredictable, one day my hair will look longer and the next, shorter. It's frustrating. Gahhhhhhhh!

It really does seem to take for-eeeeeeeever to get thro this stage doesn't it sarahthegemini??! Maybe we're being taught the 'well don't cut it off again' lesson... I know I'll NEVER be going short again.. (If I can help it!)

I wore my hair down yesterday and while it didn't feel long, it didn't really feel short either! Today I have the hair on each side of my face twisted into a rope braid and pinned in the center of the back of my head. There was plenty of length on each braid still left at the end of the pins.

Yeah. I've been hoping to 'graduate' from this thread like a month ago. It is not happening with the towel test. it's *probably* because I am holding it too low :P
on the bright side people who haven't see me for a while say how long my hair has gotten

I measured my hair for the first time ever today, and it came out around 19.5 inches. But it's only at my collarbone, and when I look at a hair length chart it says that 20 inches is around mid-back. and i'm definitely not even close to that. am I doing it wrong? I took a piece of string and put it right at my hairline, and let it drape over the back of my head, and cut where the ends of my hair met the string.

From the hairline is correct, or at least it's the most popular way to measure on this forum. So, I think the way you measured with the string is fine. Personally, I usually lay my tape measure over my head with 0" behind me, then I reach back and match up the ends of my hair with the end of the measure, looking in the mirror to get the number at my hairline.

What chart are you looking at? 19.5 inches sounds about right for somewhere between shoulder and APL. I'm at 25" and not yet MBL. The measurements are going to be different depending on height/build, but I would say the chart you are seeing could be measured some other way than from the hairline.
