I've had to wash my hair almost every day while I've been away, which is why it's all fluffy. Nice to see the waves make an appearance though.

    FuzzyBlackWaves,

Thanks for the complement! Glad to have inspired you! My hair doesn't always look that good - which is why I had the photo taken that day when my hair was behaving itself.

But it's true: You will reach waist length soon enough - it looks like you are pretty close to waist length now! Just remember, if you ever have someone trim your hair, take a trusted friend with you to stand behind you and monitor the trimming - so it doesn't become a major loss of length. I like your hair (don't see any fuzziness) and your tan! You'll be at waist soon! Enjoy!

jolyvette, I have no idea why, but I always get super excited when someone else mentions they shaved their head at one point. It's kind of weird, but I do. I did it at 19 too.

It's ironic, I've noticed my hair grows longer in a shorter time when I don't pay attention to it... Maybe that's the secret...

I think there are a few of us on here who did it around that age...makes me happy I am not alone in that! Seriously has taken me forever to get any growth though. My very naïve thinking at 19 was that it will just grow back quickly enough.

I'm trying not to measure till the next measure in date. It's hard. I keep thinking that I need to do something extra in my hair care routine, but I know that leaving it alone is the key.

Thanks for your response and the advice Red Rapnuzel! My hair was also behaving in that photo - I don't think I've been washing the coconut oil out properly the last few months, so it's looked like some kind of bush. It feels so much shorter than it looks in the photos, I'm always quite surprised. Very good guidance about the trimming - a family friend tends to cut it, and she takes 1/2" off every time, regardless of how much I ask for. I'm looking into Crea-clips - a bit nervy to do it myself though, I once made a three-sided photo frame in school!

As for the idea of leaving your hair alone - it reminds me of a line in the song 'Wear Sunscreen'. It goes something like 'don't mess with your hair too much, or by the time you're thirty it'll look forty five'. Seems true enough I wish I'd been confident enough to shave it all off and try it out when I was younger - alas, I just don't have the face for it!

I think I cried and mourned that loss for months!! Didn't have it trimmed again for a couple of years!!

Good luck to you! You WILL reach waist length eventually. Just remember to enjoy your hair at whatever length it is currently. Also, remember this rule: Never have your hair cut for a special event! Never! That did me in more than once! If you need a shorter look for whatever occasion: Buy a short wig!! That works!

    And thanks for the complement!
Thanks again for the Warning, I have in the past cut my hair for special occasions or for job interview thinking it looked more professional. DONE WITH THAT. I'm fully committed to having long hair like yours. Very pretty.
If I need or want a more professional look there are plenty of up-do hairstyles that I have learned that can accomplish that.

So I am new and at the moment my hair is BSL. The longest my hair ever got was the mid back abyss. of course when it got that long I was taking horrible care of it so maybe that is why it never got any longer. Are there any tips that could help me?

Hello, I'm pretty sure I was here before & made it just past waist. But then about 2 months ago I got tired of micro trimming & waiting for layers to grow out. So I had a few inches cut off & i'm back in the realm of mbl & creeping up on waist. But it was worth it, I love the blunt hemline & the way it looks.

I'm also returning to simple benign neglect. I spent so much time adding stuff into my hair because it felt dry that I ended up with some kind of yucky feeling hair monster on my head last week. So a simple wash/condition later & life was good again. In reality, it was a good reminder that it's easy to go overboard with to much hair stuff sometime.

Thanks for listening to all my rambling, it's good to be back. I'm actually really liking this length right now.
