Well, I am completely in love with it and it's not even an ideal shade of red and decided that I really want to henna! So finally, my question for experienced hennaers is; there are sooo many choices!! Where do I start? I looked at henna hut and I've looked at Lush henna but I just have no idea where to begin? I'm sort of looking for a Julianne Moore, Ginny Weasley color. As soon as I figure out how to post a pic I can put up one of my natural color. Oh and should I wait until the color I just did is completely faded out?
Thanks in advance for any help!!
I would highly recommend www.hennaforhair.com. It is body art quality and will not fade. I hear people happy with Lush but it fades. If you are sure you want henna hair then henna for hair is an awesome choice. They even have a henna forum where many questions can be answered by henna pros. Happy hennaing

Shoot, forgot to address your second question. I had platinum blonde hair (bleached) that I dyed to get close to my natural color and then I did henna over it. It looks a little different than my natural colored roots but only if you know what you are looking for...and this is more because of the bleach and not the hair color. However I am not a henna guru as my first henna was just a week ago but I did a lot of research here and on henna for hair and found it didn't seem to be an issue doing henna over dyed hair. Maygem82:

I am sure you will have no problem getting a color like that by just using henna over your hair. The dyed parts may give you some different dye uptake only if they are very damaged. I myself was a redhead when I started hennaing. Good Luck!

You guys, I am back to henna.. again.
After bleach and purple dye after henna, I returned to my marriage :P
Why: My hair was dull and dry after the treatments, the purple washed out to a weirdish old lady furniture shade so I missed the red.
We were divorced for a short while, but have kissed and made up. My henna is on my head right now!!

Thanks! I'm just about ready to dive in! The color I used will fade pretty well judging by what my original strand test did so I think I'll just wait out the fade and then give it a go. In my original post I said I looked at henna hut but henna for hair is where I was at. Now I just have to decide which of those I need!

I used 2/3 cassia with 1/3 punjabi prime. The sight says it won't cover grays but I have many grays (as noted in my before pic) and they were covered perfectly...although they are definitely brighter than the non-grays.

I have been hennaing for a few months but I have a problem with henna leaking down my shower cap onto my neck. I feels kinda gross so I was wondering if I can add honey to the henna mix? Does it affect the dye release or the dye uptake?

@midsummernight: Yes, I also use honey in my mix! Works just fine, makes the hair softer even
You could also make the consistency thicker by adding less water/lemon juice.

I'm also having trouble with the consistency part. Would it possibly work better to put a slightly thicker mud onto damp hair versus the thinner mix on dry hair?

I don't recommend applying to dry hair. I apply mine to damp hair. Not wet. And if you just lay off the water a bit, it keeps the mix not-so-runny Or even add conditioner to thicken it up. I've had to do that before because I wasn't paying attention to the water I put in
    Henna head. Goal of hip
