If I measured correctly, I have 1/2" to go before I hit APL!!!
Shoulder: 16.5"
APL: 20"
BSL: 26"
Waist: 28.5" <---I'm not so sure about this measurement!
I'm 5'3".
AHHHH pony tails can be bad for your hair if you do it every time! Which is the reason why I turned to forks and sticks the moment my hair would allow me to do so, and now I don't notice anymore breakage compared to when I used to pony tail (although I notice my hair sheds a lot more by the end of the day because it gets collected in the bun, I know they are regular sheds because of the white bulb ending), I'd always find some of my hairs curled into the pony band by the end of the day, hence I knew pony ties would give me some breakage.Oh and I'd really look at investing on a water filter if your water is that hard. Omg! I think sephora sells water filters for the showers if I remember correctly.
Ok, I hope some people will help me out and collaborate with me on an action shot day for hair toys. I just wanted some collaboration because you have straight hair (so you will have more options of style, the more the better for everyone, right?), plus my techniques might not work for you because I have thick bushy coarse wurly hair, but you'll at least be able to attempt the shapes of the buns i'll be showing with your own technique. At the same time, I don't want to feel like I'm hogging up space in our thread because I can go crazy with pics.If I can't find anyone to collaborate with me then I'll do it. I just want someone to back me up if someone reports me to the mods for hogging up space.
LOL

I have the fancy snag free hair ties from Sephora, and some other fancy kind with a snap so you don't have to yank it out of your hairand I only do a pony when I'm in OMG MUST PLAY WITH HAIR PERHAPS I GREW .0001 INCH IN THE PAST 5 MINUTES I MUST DO THINGS TO MY HEAD mode
Sephora does have water filters for showerheads, but not only do I live in a dorm
they're super expensive. I'll shop around to see if I can find a cheaper one, and if I can I'll get it to use in my campus apartment next fall, because I'll (almost) have a bathroom to myself.
I'd love to do a hair toy day, I need an excuse to get really good at using my sticksand because I want to show off the pair my fiance got me a couple weeks ago.
I'm about to post a pic of my trim (I found the ACV, it was with my hair scissors...) so I wouldn't worry too much
ETA: I can't post a pic because my phone won't send it to my computerOn the upside, it looks like I've grown a little since Thursday

Sloooowly growing to BSL+
LOL- I so know what you're saying. The end of my WO adventure was the day when I had a good look into the bathroom mirror AT WORK and something snapped. I really couldn't believe I had been walking around like that for so many months. My hair simply looked, well, like unwashed hair.
I had spread the word at work by the way that I had major issues with allergies and I couldn't use traditional products. Yeah, that was a (white?) lie but I hoped "medical" reasons would make my look more acceptable![]()

I will happily post hairstick photos once I can have an album here (I don't have enough posts here yet). I was very happy once I could use sticks as ponytails I find quite uncomfortable after a long day.
Before my hair was long enough to use hairsticks I discovered what we call African Butterfly Clips... maybe they have a different name too? I could get my hair into a sorta-bun with one of those when it was still to short to put in a full pony tail. I was actually purchasing one for a friend and she commented I should be able to get my just- shoulder layered hair into one, no sweat. This is the sort of thing I mean:

I'll join you in a hairstick/hairfork picture thingybut i might be a little late as i'm really lazy with uploading pictures

Ugh.... Matching up measurements & pictures to goals is frustrating me...
I am definitely 22.5", but in photos it looks like I'm really still a few inches away from APL.
I thought my BSL was 27", my waist 32", so inch-wise I should really be at APL by now.
Euck. I don't think I'll be solid APL until I'm at 24".....![]()

OMG!
BTW, have you ever tried a chelating shampoo? I love ACV but for more intense mineral removal chelating shampoos are the best. I've gotten really good results with Ion (from Sally's) swimmer's shampoo. I use it about once a month following my clarifying shampoo.
Treatment Tuesday: So yesterday I did my roots and followed with my usual routine of washing out the dye with a mild shampoo followed by Roux Porosity Control shampoo. Then I did Ion's Keratin Smoothing Masque. I used at least two HUGE handfuls to saturate my damp hair and left it on for 20 min. The masque didn't feel especially rich but it left my hair really silky feeling when I washed it out.
While my hair was still damp, I put in some argan oil and then I used Hairtrition Keratin Smoothing Leave in Treatment. This is a really weird product because it's guar gum based which means it feels more like a gel than a conditioner type product. The last time I used it I wasn't impressed with the results but this time, combining it with argan oil and the masque, I really like it. My hair is really smooth and shiny now. The baby hair frizz I usually get is soooo much less. I'm really loving this combo of products!
Routine for my dyed mid back length hair: shampoo and condition twice a week, with Alterna Kendi Dry Oil Spray all over and shea butter on ends and lightly on length as leave-ins on wet hair, and blow dried with a Sedu on low heat
My Treatment Tuesday
So right now I'm letting my hair air dry. Before that I used the L'oreal EverStrong hair mask, and I let it sit for about 25 minutes. While I was letting the hair mask sit on my head I figure I'd try out the Clarisonic body brush, and give my body a good exfoliation. Let me just say it was a fabulous and invigorating experience! Once I was done with the Clarisonic I used the shampoo and then conditioner. So far my hair smells absolutely fabulous, and it really shaped my curls almost into ringlets for the first time! I think this particular line nourishes the curls I have because a great majority of them formed into ringlets. Sooo excited to see the results when my hair dries!
Ok since we are starting to have more people volunteer to join me on Wednesday Way to go Hair Toy Action Shot(s) (title to be revised, if anyone can think of a more clever slogan). I figure once a month after the week of Towel Test Tuesday we can share hair toy styles to celebrate the growth of each TT test. I can't emphasize enough how this will be of great benefit to anyone who is addicted to hair toys or are now able to use them! The range of styles will be helpful in building techniques for beginners like me. I'll probably post mine soon because I will be gone on Wednesday (faculty meeting to attend). But I'll leave it to anyone who wants to join to post pictures from then on. Please feel free to post as many pics you like. As some of you know I'm a pic freak so I'm warning you all now. hehehe
