Hello Misso, welcome to our club I've taken a year so far from mid neck length to 'nearly' APL! I'm very tall, so a year is probably about right. Pull up a chair and get comfortble, you'll be with us for a while

That's awesome, I'll have to give this a try! I only don't have any pretty hairsticks yet.., can I just use a pencil or wooden chopstick?

Hi! new here. I'm almost APL (If I stretch it in the front I"m just about there). I just learned about sock buns on this thread. How did I go my whole life not knowing this?!? You all just made my day!

jaine, I've had great success with curling my hair with what I call bohemian braids. It's a super-easy twisted braid down each side into two braids. I haven't had any luck with bun waves yet.
    Have a beautiful day!

Yip, but make sure they're smooth/hair friendly so you don’t cause any damage as you put them in.

Thanks! That one in particular I made with U hair pins, but even bobby pins would work.

Ohh.. u hair pins, haven't even heard of those! (You can tell I'm a long hair newbie still LOL.)
    I'll have to play around!

Right now I'm happy of having 'accomplished' my first sock bun! http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/...ctureid=109129

I admit I didn't have much luck with the half-pulled-through ponytail as a drying method. It definitely resulted in the straightest hair I've seen so far, but there were 2 big horizontal kinks across my entire head - one at the top of the loop and one at the bottom - I think I need a little more randomness to make it look natural. Probably my own fault for being so exact about it when I was putting it up!

I'm also tempted to just dry my hair down when I want to wear it down, and dry it up when I want to wear it up ... hmmm, drying it up in order to wear it down might not be a realistic goal.

I think I'll try the 2 twists facing each other next and see how that works. If that doesn't work I might have to learn how to do the sock bun!

I'm just past shoulder my self and have been working on mine since may and I do hair, skin, and nails pills. I haven't done the no cones yet. I'm afraid to try it my hair may fall apart. I did take a friends advice and try M*ne N Tail shampoo and conditioner. I do hope you reach your goal date. I'm hoping to reach mine in a year.

Hi everyone! I just joined and am working towards APL. Right now the front hair hits my collar bone. It is a bit shorter in back and want to grow it out a little more then cut it so all the layers are gone. I hope it wont take too long. I have dark blonde hair that I have put highlights into. I'm planning on trying out honey to lighten up the roots when they become more obvious... has anyone tried that?
