Once the flicking calms down the length seems to take off! I remember a stage where I was just gaining more flick and no length.

I made an impulse purchase today ... Goody Bun Spiral ... I really like it!

Here's what I came up with trying to secure a french twist with it ...

And a video of me making the bun above: http://www.flickr.com/photos/6143915...in/photostream

What do you think? The visible metal bothers me a tiny bit... but not as much as visible claw clips. I like how flat this bun turned out.

Jaine, I like your new hairtoy! Nice!

Okay, for everyone else, I have a question. I've been reading through the no cutting threads and wondering, is anyone here considering the no cutting route?

I'm not sure I'd go for that right away. I do know I need at least one more trim to get rid of the most fried ends. But after that, should I try for no cutting, at least for a while? The rest of my hair does seem pretty healthy, and I have traditionally not had too many problems with badly split ends. If I take really good care of my ends, I *may* be able to get away with no cutting for a while.

What do you guys think about this? After all, we're still all "shortish" and still have a lot of length to gain...

I am not planning to trim at all this year ... my last haircut was at shoulder length last December to shape up the pixie layers. I don't have splits yet and I don't do anything damaging to it, and the shape still works, and I want my ends to become more wispy rather than more blunt, so there's no reason for me to trim just yet!

I'm a no-cutter when I'm growing out (as I am now, sigh!) But- I never use heated hair tools, always air dry, always use a horn/wooden comb. I've gone years without doing anything but dusting when my hair was waist length.

I am on the "no trims during 2011" bandwagon.

I haven't cut since Feb. 2009. My hair is healthy so far. If it absolutely needs a trim, I will, but I'm trying not to for as long as possible. I'm routinely in the no trim camp, though. I used to go one or two years between haircuts as my general standard. It works well for me but I don't get split ends hardly at all.

jaine, I just realized how much your hair had grown since the last time I saw a picture of it. Congrats!
I wouldn't have expected the spiral to work that well.
