Crisdee have you tried putting it up when it's wet or damp? That's the only way I can get freshly washed hair to stay up in a peacock twist or French twist. Have you tried securing it with claw clips instead of a fork? Some toys are more secure than others. Or a sock bun might work on freshly washed dry hair because it's more secure, although I have not tried it yet since I usually dry my hair in an updo after I wash it.

Today I am claiming APL and moving onto the APL to BSL thread. It was wonderful being a part of this thread and I thank you all for your words of advice and encouragement through this process of growing between shoulder and APL. Special thanks to Kathie for the tutorials.

Can't wait to see you gals in the other thread.

This is a photo I just took 10 minutes ago (a little of the length is taken away by braid waves but my hair is still brushing APL).

Hey everybody, I'm new here. Been lurking for a week now and just thought I'd come out of the woodwork. I need to take some more current pictures though XD I'm about an inch (MAYBE 2) past shoulder I'd say.

Jaine, yes, I do have much better luck with putting up freshly washed hair if it's wet - but I have such a tiny head that the slicked back look makes it look even smaller. I did a half-up yesterday that actually didn't look too bad - half-ups have always added to that pinhead look for some reason, but yesterday I was able to make it work. I guess it's a day to day thing with this length, just figure out what works for that day, and don't count on it ever working again.

My progress has been kind of bumped back. I was about 1 inch from APL a little while ago, but I had bangs cut into my hair and the stylist also recut my layers so they would grow out better. It was very much needed, but it pushed me back to about 2-3 inches away from APL >< The journey continues...
