I think once I get to APL, I will feel like I have "long" hair (at least, I've never had it that long before, and it will feel long to me). But this in between bit - it feels like it's going to be SSSOOOOOOO long before I get anywhere! After APL, everything is icing - everything will be a bonus inch I never expected or dreamed of before LHC. But from shoulder to APL - just feels like it's taking forever! Probably not helped by the fact that at this stage, hair can slide across onto your shoulders and fan out, instead of hanging down, so every time you look at it, it still looks like it's just at your shoulders! eeek.

Bumping this thread so I can join! I sort of joined the super shorties thread, but mine was never shorter than chin length.

I am so excited to finally be able to grow my hair out long and have a hope of it looking good! I have had BSL length hair before, but it never cooperated, the curl went away as it grew. Now I know that it was hopelessly lacking in protein and moisture, and my curls are amazing and springier than ever! Almost at shoulder now, can't wait to be APL!

I'm still classified as shoulder but headed to APL with a new, hip shag cut.

I am lovin' my new cut and can't wait for it to grow along with me!

(I'm not really one for braids and buns, thus the reason for more layers)
Almost APL - cut it all off Dec '10 - Growing again Aug '11

I am just on shoulder length with the front reaching collarbone, but the bits framing my face are chin and i have heavy layers.

    Its a complete nightmare!

When its down it looks messy. If i straighten - which i do when i go out to pubs/clubs - its fine for 5 mins n then flicks up all over the place.

It looks ok up but gets repetative and i can only really get away with the messy look!

Im hoping these layers will grow quickly! I do want some but longer and not so harsh. I think it will take me at least 6 months to get to APL. It took from July 2009 - Present to get the length in my icon pic from a graduated pob. Thats around 5-6 inches but i had alot of trims and an inch cut off in april. So i think i grow aroung 7-8 inchs per year. That would make me APL by Xmas!! YAY!

I've cut down my trims to 1 micro trim every 9 weeks from a reg trim, every 4-5 weeks.

I'm now calling myself halfway between shoulder and APL.

kristymarie87, I was hoping for a little past APL by Christmas, too. Maybe November or October. The hair on the very nape of my neck was buzz-cut when I last cut in August and now the non-wispy strands are probably about 6 inches long. So that's about 0.6 inches of growth per month or 8 inches a year. I really need to take some time to actually measure, though, if I want to make better predictions.
Supposedly, hair grows faster in the summer, so who knows.

My hair seems to be growing slowly, but I think that is because I am watching it like a hawk right now.

A good thing to add about this length: Can't see split ends from breakage! I don't have any splits on my cut ends, though I know I have a little breakage higher up from ponytail elastics. I can't get those strands in front of my eyes, so no S&D yet.
OK, I guess that could be considered a bad thing, but let me be ignorantly blissful.
I want to finally get back to Classic. Growing again starting March 2018.

I HATE this part of the growing stage! The awkward longer-than-shoulder length. I am only an inch away from APL and it seems to take forever. One day it seems like it's getting there and the next my hair will curl more and take me further than an inch away. I'll be so happy when I finally hit APL - so I can feel like BSL is finally on its way!

So I just realized something that makes me kind of happy. I am so short in the torso that APL to BSL is almost nothing for me! So I will hit 2 big milestones in a relatively short time when I get there! I am also hoping to get pregnant sometime in the next 12 months, which prompted crazy amounts of growth for me last time. Here's hoping it works!
