    Default Christmas Tree Ribbon Braid

So you may have seen the picture of the Christmas tree ribbon braid floating around facebook by Hair By Lori https://www.facebook.com/HairByLoriB...type=3&theater

I was inspired to try my own take of it. I chose to do something a little more minimalist than her design, and a few accent braids instead lace braids due to my hair model having layers. Here are some pics!

How did you do it? I've been looking for something comfortable, cute and festive to do on Christmas day and I think that's it! Please post instructions, I beg of you!

    Okay,
    1) I parted off the top half of her hair above her ears and tied it off. I like it plain, but you could braid it if you have enough hair.
    2) I made two accent braids right behind her ears and then one below that a bit above where the ponytail would tie off. I you don't have lots of layers, lace braids would work really well and would help establish the tree shape without pins.
    3) I split the top tail into two and started a regular braid. I added in the first one after a few stitches and used it to pull the braid out at an angle. After about three more stitches before adding in the second accent braid which I left a little longer so it would loop a bit. I then repeated it on the other side.
    4) Because I didn't lace braid, I had to spread the base apart a bit and pinned it in place, and then tied off the bottom
    5) I weaved the ribbon in. I do this by either using a blunt craft needle or if I don't have one (like today) I use a bobby pin like a needle to thread it through.
    6) I took out the bottom tie and smoothed out the under layer. I then retied the ponytail, and pinned a few fly aways and added an extra pin to keep the base wide.
    7) I then wrapped the ends of the ribbon multiple times around the base of the ponytail until the hair tie was fully covered. and tied it off in the back. Then I trimmed the ribbon ends.
8 ) I put a little piece of painters tape on the back of the star and taped it against the top hair tie.

There you go. It'd be best to have someone else weave in the ribbon to make sure everything is even and equal. I'm not exactly sure how long my ribbon was. I had a piece of green left over from another project that I used. I think 3/4 feet should be plenty though.
