I am in the cut is a cut camp. A trim is a cut to me.
Yes, a cut is a cut.
No, it's not enough to count.
I only cut cheese.
I was just wondering this. A lot of people say they won't cut for x amount of months and whatnot, but I'm wondering if a dusting for splits counts..

I cut cheese. Um.....that sounds wrong, somehow.
Really, though, I think it counts as a cut if you want it to count as a cut. You get to make your own cutting rules.

Hehe, it was supposed to sound wrong. I think that while it would count on here, it wouldn't be the same if you were talking to a non-LHCer about your hair cutting routines, you know?

I think it depends on the context (though I voted no it's not, because for me it isn't). If you're wanting to not cut for a year because you get obsessive over split ends, then it still constitutes a cut. If you're not wanting to cut for a year because you tend to get scissor-happy and cut several inches off, then it doesn't count IMO. It's all relative.

I think of a micro-trim as a tool to keep my ends nice, like an S&D, but with more hair in one go. To me, a cut involves removing length to make hair shorter.

Change is the only constant.
I think of it as a cut simply because it adds up over time. An 1/8 of an inch every few weeks adds up to an inch a year, ands up to five inches in five years.
But I'm mean like that.
I never get duster's guilt though, if such a thing could even exist.
Finally at knee, with a new quest for thick ends!

I view it as maintenance and preventing damage if necessary.
I would say yes, since they can make a big difference.
