Default Tailbone and longer - please share your hair care routine

I did a search but couldn't find an exact thread like this - but please direct me if there is one that I missed.

I am super-interested in the hair care routines of those of you with hair that is tailbone-length or longer. I would love it if those of you who have reached such lengths could share your habits, favourite products and approach to hair care with the rest of us! Pretty please!

    So -- my questions are:

    What is your current length?

How do you wash your hair? (shampoo, CWC, CO, WO, other?)

How often do you wash your hair?

    What are your favourite products?

What shampoo are you currently using (if you use shampoo)?

What conditioner are you currently using?

Do you oil your hair? If yes, which oil/s do you use?

Do you use oil as a pre-poo treatment?

Do you deep condition your hair? If yes, what do you use?

How do you wear your hair on most days?

Do you only air-dry your hair?

    Do you use sulphates?

    Do you use cones?

    Comb or brush?

Your top tip for growing to tailbone or longer?

    Thank you so much!!!

Okay, I'm at ankle length, so I'll answer I wash every other day (my scalp needs it) and I use Nature's Plus natural cleansing bar as my shampoo bar, I wash scalp only, then put Earthly Delight conditioner in my hair from the ears down. I clip that up with some hair clips that I keep in the shower while I wash my body. Then I take the conditioner-full hair down and gently comb the conditioner thru. Rinse out and shower is done! I do put coconut oil in the length the night before I wash, I wash in the morning. I let it air dry, I try to leave it down for maybe 1/2 hour so that it has dried some before I put it up, but it is still damp when I put it up on wash days. I sleep with it loose in a sleep cap, which has really helped me with less tangles and damage. In the past I slept with it braided, no sleep cap, and I would end up with tons of damage and tangles.

What is your current length? Just scraping knee

How do you wash your hair? (shampoo, CWC, CO, WO, other?) George Michael shampoo (diluted). Rinse. 4 drops MO for detangler

How often do you wash your hair? Once a month

What are your favourite products? George Michael Pink Crème Shampoo...the only shampoo I use (since 1982)

What shampoo are you currently using (if you use shampoo)? see above

What conditioner are you currently using? None.

Do you oil your hair? If yes, which oil/s do you use? Never

Do you use oil as a pre-poo treatment? Never

Do you deep condition your hair? If yes, what do you use? Never

How do you wear your hair on most days? Always up and braided

Do you only air-dry your hair? Yes, air drying is best. My dries in 20 minutes outdoors

Do you use sulphates? I have no idea

    Do you use cones? No

Comb or brush? Both. I only use a boar bristle brush (no nylon). Brush daily..100 strokes

Your top tip for growing to tailbone or longer? Patience! Treat your hair gently. No hot irons/curlers/straightening/bleach. Always detangle with a wide tooth comb. Eat a healthy diet and exercise moderately. Wear your hair UP and either brush or comb it every day. Try and keep stuff off your hair. The less product, the better. Do S and D monthly. Trim when needed. Protect your hair at night by braiding it, or putting it in a sleep cap, or using a silk/satin pillowcase cover. Keep your hair goods clean. Learn new hair styles so you don't become bored. Be careful to use hair friendly toys/elastics.

Measure it once a month if you must, but the most helpful thing is to put it up and forget it.

    What is your current length?

Right now I'm a TBL+, edging down toward classic.

How do you wash your hair? (shampoo, CWC, CO, WO, other?)

I just do the standard S&C, shampoo only on the scalp and conditioner only from ears down.

How often do you wash your hair?

Once a week. Sunday is my wash day.

    What are your favourite products?

90s throwback Herbal Essences shampoo, Kiss My Face Whenever conditioner, Yes to Blueberries conditioner... there are others, but I haven't used/ seen them in a long time, so I can't seem to remember what they were.

What shampoo are you currently using (if you use shampoo)?

90s throwback Herbal Essences (rose hip scent) and Suave Naturals Rainforest Fresh-- I alternate based on what mood my hair seems to be in.

What conditioner are you currently using?

Yes to Blueberries and Nature's Gate Jojoba-- I alternate these based on whether it seems like my hair is in the mood for protein (which NG is a little heavy on).

Do you oil your hair? If yes, which oil/s do you use?

I use a mix I made of 50/50 coconut oil and aloe gel, with a few drops of rosemary EO as a leave-in after washing sometimes.

Do you use oil as a pre-poo treatment?

Not often, sometimes I'll use my mix on the ends before a wash, but I don't notice a big difference.

Do you deep condition your hair? If yes, what do you use?

Very rarely. I've done 2 SMTs ever, and used a tube of Burt's Bees Avocado Butter Pre-Shampoo Hair Treatment over the course of a few years. I just don't feel a need for it very often.

How do you wear your hair on most days?

Usually braided and bunned. If not that, then braided only. Lately I've been doing more non-braided buns to try to avoid breakage around my nape from constant braiding, but it still doesn't happen often because I have a 12 month old. My favorite buns are Lazy Wrap and Shells' Everyday Knot.

Do you only air-dry your hair?

Yep. I'm way too lazy to bother with blowdrying.

    Do you use sulphates?

    Yep.

    Do you use cones?

    Nope. My hair hates 'em.

    Comb or brush?

Comb only. I haven't used a brush in nearly a decade. Right now I'm loving the horn comb I got for Christmas-- no static!!

Your top tip for growing to tailbone or longer?

Patience, patience, and patience. A silk pillowcase has become my best friend. Ignore your hair as much as you can. Also, I wouldn't advise doing too much experimentation-- go slow with it and stick with the things that work. Remember first and foremost: YMMV. Do what works for you, not what should work because someone else loves it. Did I mention patience?

Wow - thanks guys! These are great tips and it is so inspiring just to read about your routines.

It's also interesting that those who have posted so far don't seem to do a lot of deep conditioning. Interesting!
