This totally sums up my feelings as well! Cutting your hair takes a moment and you might totally love it, but once you decide you want it long again it's time to buckle down for the long haul. I've enjoyed my journey from Pixie to TBL and I've learned so much, but it's been eight years and I still haven't reached my goal. Short hair is a huge commitment!

I'm getting the urges to chop , recently they've been stronger and come more often.
I had a pixie and later on a bob , shorter hair means only more texture in my case. I can get away with heavier layering and get nice ringlets.
Care and styling has always been the same for me. No matter if my hair is long or short. Just less product

I'm not doing anything drastic just yet, I want to get to waist first.
But I definitely crave a bigger change. Maybe after the summer... a lob is a really nice style

If you do chop, will you wait until your greys have grown out enough to be part of the new look?

It’s common advice here to cut off just a little at the time, like a milestone or less, and then waiting a little while before cutting off anymore. Often a smaller cut is enough to satiate the need for change or improved hair quality.

I know doing it that way has saved me many times. Whenever I’m fed up with my hair I start to want to chop it much shorter, and every time I end up realizing that I actually want it long, I just needed a smaller cut for whatever reasons.

That sounds like a really good idea
It gives hair time to get used to the new length. I know that my hair is very prone to scissors shock and if I went from current length to let's say collarbone it would totally freak out

A pixie cut can feel so fresh and fun. If you’re scared of how long it’ll take to grow back, you could try a collar-bone length bob first—still shorter but not as drastic.
