I find that I shed less with catnip than I did with conditioner but I never had a thinning hair issue. My hair is natually thin on its own. It now looks and feels thicker (much less breakage and no breakage taper), with catnip.
Thanks, ktani. Well, the first go 'round went fairly well considering the catnip I used was somewhat old and so not in the best shape to emit oils.
However, my hair is very soft without the use of conditioner; albeit, quite unruly but that's not something that I expected just yet since I have to use other products (including avocado oil) to weigh it down so it is not so fluffy.
All in all, the experiment went very well for a first run so I will be picking up some fresh catnip to start using regularly!

This is good to hear. I did spray and later oil my hair today to tame it down a bit but the major thing I noticed is that it is incredibly soft. It has never felt so nice, IMO, so that is a very good sign.
I think that I will get much better results by finding some fresher catnip and leaving it on for a deep conditioning treatment once a week in addition to my CWC days. However, I am now considering testing out using the catnip tea rinse as a conditioning replacement so that would change my approach since the tea doesn't seem to work well w/conditioner. Hmm, maybe an occasional very diluted shampoo with a natural product and then a tea rinse for as long as possible without the use of a separate conditioner.
I'm looking forward to having softer hair and if I can work out an accessible process to tame my hair, I'll be thrilled.

Catnip does replace conditioner for me. I do not need or use any leave-ins or oils and my hair is better than ever.
You may find the same. Right now your hair may have some conditioner and oil residue on it. Still your hair is reacting like mine did when I first started using catnip.
I noticed the softness right away too. I had build-up that needed to be washed out though before I was able to get catnip's full benefits.

Yep, I could definitely have some residue because I primarily used a conditioner w/cones. Oils are also a possibility but my hair seems to soak up avocado oil like there's no tomorrow.
Having said that, I did clarify right before I did my henna/cassia so there shouldn't be too much on my hair. Once I get my new catnip stash tonight, I will clarify once more just to be safe and then do the experiment sans any other conditioners and oils (crossing fingers there because my hair is so thick and tough to tame).
It would be the best thing since sliced bread if I did not HAVE to put on other treatment products to tame my mane! Whoo hoo to that and will be keeping my fingers crossed that I can get a sheet-like outcome with my waves.
Oh, also wanted to add that my hair is very shiny today, as well. I did not notice this much w/my single henna/cassia application but didn't expect it, either. I figured that would come with future glosses. Just to be clear, I do have natural shine as seen in my signature pic and avatar. What I noticed today is that I saw the shine by looking in the mirror - so to my naked eye, which doesn't always catch the shine that does show up in pictures w/flash. Hope that makes some sense.
Since I've done nothing out of the ordinary except use catnip tea, I gather it is the reason for today's shine. Naturally, I'm cool with that. :cheese:

I have wrinkles. I think some of it is from sun damage and some of it is from dryness. And I'm also just getting older! Anyway, I was told to try avocado oil and rosehip oil.

Online, catnip is supposed to help wrinkes. I have none and with online hype, I note things like that but tend to ignore them.
True story
The first time I used catnip to wash my face I went to work happy but not thinking anything of it. My boss at the time (who never previously made any such comments) asked me if I had had a "precedure" of some sort done because I looked younger.

I can stretch hair washing to about 5 days to a week (a week is pushing it).
Today is day 4 for me. I washed my unusually oily hair Monday, with a 2nd "shampoo" of straight catnip, just rinsing it out, after applying it and working it through my scalp and length, before reapplying more catnip, to colour/condition.
Normally, my scalp hair would be slightly oily by now. It is not. My hair is still clean and soft.
My hair on one side got a little extra wavy last night while I slept, almost what I would call a spiral wave in one part (I had a restless night and I sleep with my hair free). It is also very humid here right now and cold. Sometimes my hair just does that with my normal routine and extra humidity, and one one side more so than the other.
I had no tangles (some of the ends in the length got curved bent, not sharp angled bent and some were curled) but I just checked them after having separating them a while ago. I would normally have at least one white dot from the stress of sorting them out when this happens (I did this when I was out today and was not as careful as I should have been but I did note that my hair was not catching on itself, it was just more wavy). Nope, all are good. I am impressed.

My shampoo contains dimethiconal but I have never had build-up from it in over 4 years.

2 cones, waxy type ingredients (I put them in bold) and some polymers (I did not bold those).
Catnip removes my sunblock, which means it removes the silicones as well as the small amount of the waxy type ingredients too.
The difference to me, is that silicones and the waxy type of ingredients here, are not in the same concentrations as in hair some hair conditioners. Catnip cannot remove hair conditioner as far as I know but I have never tried to use it for that, the same way I did by doing a second "shampoo" with it Monday, which was to remove my extra oil.
This is quite fascinating, IMO.
