Ah yes:crush: catnip does wonders for the skin. After a particularly nasty burn/chemical accident, I used catnip exclusively for months and my skin is perfect, not a single scar:D
I don't now wash with catnip as I love my berry soap so much, but I love that I can use catnip everyday if I choose and my body wont get rashy the way it used to with conditioner.

I've been following this thread for awhile and have been very intrigued not for the split end fix because I don't have any (not to say that keeping them away forever wouldn't be a good thing, though) but for the conditioning benefits.
Thanks, ktani for all the research and others who've posted, as well. It has been very helpful. So, today, I took some of the catnip that my cats never liked and made some tea with it.
Washed my hair w/diluted shampoo (natural shampoo and very diluted) and then put the catnip tea on my hair w/a plastic cover for the remainder of the shower. Now, not putting any conditioner on goes against all that is hair holy for me but I didn't because I wanted to see how it would work alone.
I had just as much slip as the heaviest cone conditioner! Now, to alleviate the shedding that my hair has been doing lately. I'm unsure if it's due to the recent henna and will dissipate soon or something else but I am watching it closely. It's not a huge amount of hair but steady, nonetheless.
This afternoon, I'm going to go get some more catnip so I can have it around as a go-to conditioner. I'm excited and will report back how things look once my hair has dried!

That is fantastic. Catnip is so versatile and soothing and and I am glad to know, healing for you.
I do not use any oils or leave-ins. I have until now, only used catnip, to colour and condition my hair following shampoo. I used catnip as my 2nd "shampoo" the other day, instead of more shampoo, to remove excess oil from hair. My hair gets extra oily very infrequently.
I am stll pleased with the results. My hair is still fresh and clean. Whether it will replace shampoo altogether for me, remains to be seen.
I wash my skin with catnip every day in the morning and to remove sunblock and mascara at night and it is wonderful for all of that.

I find that I shed less with catnip than I did with conditioner but I never had a thinning hair issue. My hair is natually thin on its own. It now looks and feels thicker (much less breakage and no breakage taper), with catnip.

Does catnip have a toxicity level? I use it for my hair and skin and I love it. I want to try it on my baby's skin because it's very dry from the weather (even heavy creams aren't doing much), but I want to make sure it's safe first.

Catnip is not toxic, has been used for babie's teething problems and colic but is not recommended but during pregnancy or certain menstral conditions.

Catnip EO like any EO can be an irritant and aside from the price, is only one component of the dried leaves and flowers.
Catnip is not expensive if you buy the,cut and sifted pet store leaves and flowers. It can be very inexpensive and is very economical to use.

I am sure that the EO can be purchased for less than what you saw it priced for but what I meant is that it the benefits would not be the same as the soothing and moisturizing effects of the other constituents in the buds and leaves.
