You have gorgeous thick hair. Mine is thin and too much separation does not look good on me. It is not what others think. I have had hair compliments lately, but what I like.

Hey all! I've done two catnip rinses, and I love it! It makes it a little harder to detangle, and I have to be real gentle when wet, but my hair feels like a bunny! It's so soft!
Last time I just did a catnip rinse, tried to detangle wet, and had lots of knots. This time I added cucumber (I was making pickles and had half a cucumber left and didn't especially feel like eating it... I have no idea if it's good for hair.) and it didn't seem to change anything. (But it smells great! I kinda like the smell of catnip, but catnip+cucumber is divine! Who knew?) Next time I'm considering adding honey or doing a separate honey treatment to see if I can get rid of the tangling problems.
I did the 'CO' version, each time, leaving it on for an indefinite amount of time; it cleaned rather well. It has helped immensely with my scalp issues (it has been aggravated since I went off CO/honey - be it herbs, sulfates, WO, etc. it just would not stop itching and flaking.) I've only scratched my scalp a few times in the past week, which is MUCH an improvement over me scratching so much it bled sometimes.
My current signature is a pic after yesterday. I'm not sure why, but catnip+sunlight brings out more tones in my hair than I've ever seen before.
ETA: Forgot to mention that I lightly oiled the length with jojoba after it dried. I think that helped some with the bunny softness and shine, and not being a complete pain to detangle.
I am glad that you are enjoying catnip. Depending on what was/is on your hair, it can take a while to see its full possible benefits on hair but its scalp benefits are almost instant, from my experience.
I have no tangles wet or dry with catnip but that is all that has been on my hair for quite a while, other than shampoo and a bit of maple syrup once, a good while back now..
When I was experimenting and had used conditioner or added things to catnip, I did have knots, every so often. I've had one hair knot on me in the last 6 months.
Update
I trimed an inch off my hair earlier this week after a little over 4 months.
I just trimmed off another 2 inches. I had pieces growing in that were shorter and I just wanted my hair to be closer in over all length to them. So, now when I pull my hair down in the back straight, it is about 2 inches from my waist.
My hair grows fairly quickly and I feel better for this trim. Sometimes that is what is needed. I still have long hair. I am just more comfortable with this length and now as it grows in, it will be more even.
I trimmed my hair with Feye's method both times but last night I "edited " the last trim.
I did not cut off more length. I just pulled and held my hair the way it falls naturally, the way I want it to, and trimmed hairs that were fractionally not as blunt on the ends. I even pulled my hair into a low ponytail in the back and trimmed the odd hair there, bringing the ponytail ends forward.
The result is a thicker more even hemline that makes updos stay in and hold better. My only updo really is a modified French twist, that I use 1 roller pin with, to get my hair out of my way but it now stays up easily.
My current goal is the thickest hemline I can get with my hair long. I am well on my way to getting there.
Thanks to catnip, my hair is much stronger and my breakage much reduced. I still have 0 split ends but the thickness at the ends, along with strength, and less breakage is important to me.
I need about another inch off for optimum thinkness IMO. That will have to wait because I do not want to sacrifice more length now. I do miss the last 2 inches trimmed but I am not sorry that I trimmed them. The 1st inch was necessary because my hair was annoying me. I initially went over 7 months between trims before cutting my own hair. Then I only trimmed .5 inch, then a month later, 1 inch. So, while I did not have breakage tapering, my growth taper, exceeded my trims, for keeping the most blunt hemline.
I can now proceed to grow my length with more confidence in its over all appearance. The pieces I have been growing out are much less noticeable and are the result of old breakage on the canopy from over 2 years ago. My hair is wispier at the front because of my hairline there but even those areas look better after this trim.
I want a second opinion on this one -
Today I washed my hair with poo bars, then I rinsed it with (diluted) ACV. After that I soaked my hair with the catnip tea (which was steep for a good hour before the wash, a teaspoon and a half of catnip on 300ml). I carried on with my shower doings with my hair up and dripping with catnip, and when I was finished I thought - why would I rinse it out (less than 10 min later, with my bad tap water), if I could leave it in to work it magic all the way until it dries? So I didn't rinse out the catnip.
Better? Unnecessary? I can't stay that much longer in the shower (the hot water runs out fast and it's soooo cold!), so it's barely 10 minutes of catnip soaking if I'm lucky. I tried to soaked the hair after the shower with catnip, wrap it, leave it in for an hour and wash, but the dripping drove me bananas and I hate to stretch the period of time I'm bound to take care of my hair from 20 min to an hour and 20 min.
What do you think?
I dry my hair as much as possible, then pour the warmed up (I hate cold water!) catnip tea over my head and quickly bag the end length in a sandwich bag/ponytail. This is the only way it works well for me, to leave it on my hair wet for an hour. I treat it like henna, wrap rest of hair in a plastic bag, then a towel my head for the heat and to keep me warm! The benefits are greater than the aggrevation, my hair has no snarls, no problem combing, and is soft, shiny, and full. Better than any conditioner I have every tried. Breakage and shed hairs are down to almost zero.
I would change the dilution to 1 level teaspoon to just under 300 ml of water, to make it less astringent.
If you gently squeeze the excess water out of your hair after your shampoo and acv rinse, your hair will drip less from the catnip, when you bag and time it.
I do not think a pre shampoo catnip soak is giving the the full benefits of catnip the same way a post wash soak can.
