Fantastic! Catnip is well worth it to me too. Shedding is less for me as well, with it than I used to have with conditioner but I used to use conditioner on my scalp, so that may be why, for me.

Ktani, I tried it, it still drips and it still takes too long. I scratch it off as an option. What I do have is either soaking my hair with catnip and rinsing it out at the end of my shower, of not rinsing it out and just leaving it in. I just wanted reassure that there's not other things to consider, and I chosen the better option (the latter one).
Second catnip rinse today, following Dairy Whip wash. I like the combo - and the catnip (which I left in for five minutes) makes for a good after-wash treatment. I didn't use conditioner - didn't need it. It will be interesting to see if my splits and white dots diminish over time (with S&D of course). It would be great to strengthen my hair a bit. I'm going to try a catnip soak next weekend.
I finally received my Dairy Whip a few days ago and was able to try it out yesterday. Unfortunately, I forgot to grab my catnip so I didn't test the combo yet. While I have heard that people don't have the need to use conditioner with DW, I did. Not much but it was still necessary.
Have to say that I am absolutely loving the Dairy Whip, though!
Specialkitty and scalawag girl....DW and catnip is all I ever use, with the exception of the occasional use of sulfates due to hard water. VERY occasional....like once every 2-4 weeks.
Heidi, I have the same issues as you, the bag-for-an-hour-then-rinse option just doesn't work for me because with my current schedule it means that I have sogging wet hair either on leaving the house in the morning or upon going to sleep, neither of which appeal.
So I, too, leave the catnip in after bagging for a while and this works fine for me although I am still not convinced about the effect on my hair.
I have to say though, that adopting Ktani's freezer bag trick for bagging the hair greatly helped me to reduce the drips. You can find her description of this somewhere further up this thread - basically it is a tough freezer bag with the opening stretched; this gives a snug fit on the head which contains almost all drips for me. It only works well when I try to get my hair in with my head upside down though.
I just stretch it enough to be able to slide it on with my head bent slightly forward.
I sympathize with the timing but catnip never worked well for me as a leave-in vs the long soak. I just make time for it and it works beautifully. It has for over the past 1.5 years. I consider it my special hair time.
After 2 or 3 good results with dairy whip plus bagged and then left in catnip with no conditioner, I went on holiday abroad for a few days and didn't have catnip with me. It turns out that the dairy whip on its own seemed to give me as good results as followed by catnip and that I got the best results when following the DW with an acid rinse. I haven't even combed my hair with anything but my fingers for a week because tangles just fall out.
I've since tried catnip one more time at home (same as procedure above) and didn't notice an improvement.
What to think? I am overall pleased with my hair at the moment because the frizz halo I was getting is gone and the shine back, so I figured I must have had some persistant build-up that didn't go away with the occasional sulfate pooing but somehow has gone away now with reduced conditioner use and dairy whip.
But I am not convinced that the catnip is doing anything to my hair above and beyond what Dairy Whip / reduced condish do, as I just don't notice a per-wash difference. I even tried getting a different catnip batch with more buds but no luck yet.
Heck, I shouldn't complain because my hair really is doing ok at the moment, but I am a little stumped why I don't seem to get a catnip effect.
