Very much agree about the shorter ponytails. I had the curled-under ponytail effect when I first cut, too, and liked that a lot.
The hairstyles are cute, sadly the curled under ponytail effect does not last for long. I never got around doing a milkmaid braid on my hair, I just can't get the hang of it :( same thing with waterfall braids, how are people even able to do that braid?? my skills just can't reach milkmaids and waterfalls, but theI can do other braids so I don't worry much about that. But I will LOVE to see yours!

Curled under ponytail effect is fleeting, but fun while it lasts. Almost bunlike, but not totally looped.
I've found the key to milkmaid braids is starting them above the ear, rather than below or behind. Waterfall braids mystify me. Props to anyone who can do them, though.
The red cloud needs re-reddening (got a look at my roots in the dressing room mirror, reminding me it is color time) so I should be able to give the milkmaid braids another shot over the weekend.

I love the curled under ponytail effect. If I ever cut my hair short it will be to that length where I can do that.
The first LHC length thread I joined was the shoulder to APL thread :D Everyone was so supportive and encouraging!

I love that curled under ponytail, too, and if I ever cut back, it will be to that same length. Add a wide black ribbon bow, flouncy white blouse, maybe a vest, leggings and boots, for the Hamilton effect. The hair in your profile picture is gorgeous though, so no hurries.
This is, I think, my first length thread I've joined. Could not ask for a better bunch.

Thank you :D Yes, you can have such fun with shoulder length hair! Sometimes I miss it.

Sometimes, I miss it, too. My cousin asked if I would ever cut back to shoulder length, and I didn't rule it out. It was fun, and I liked the look. Enjoying the growing journey right now, though.

Nymphe Thank you so much! I will be posting pictures soon then!
LaisB Thank you! I enjoy it because it's invigorating, yet relaxing. I get some pretty good growth from it too!
I just want to say that all of you ladies have beautiful locks!

The sour look is because my sides are uneven. No more salon visits for me. This side is 14.5", the other is 15". I measured wet because I have stubborn, THICK hair(I'm serious. My pony measures 4" around WITH layers AND razoring!) that curls under when dry(and wet apparently).

Starting above the ear is a good idea! I'll try it!!
Today I did duch pigtails, they are so cute in this lenght (do you want a picture?)! I am sure your hair will look lovely when it's even more red!

That's a pretty hairstyle.
Wishing *all* who are growing to APL a great journey. It is hard, was there twice during my time here, and it's not easy. I started from chin both times, and shoulder to APL is *hard*. But ladies, once you get to APL, I can assure you, it is *worth* it. What you can do with your hair at APL is so versatile all of a sudden!
