Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I haven't measured in months...so I'm not sure if I'm at APL yet. My one year anni here is on December 10th, so I'm going to wait until I do proper length shots. On the 14th of Jan (My birthday), I will be treating myself to a self trim (Feyes U shaped trim.)

I'm so happy that I did my first French twist tonight! I love this style...it's going to be the thing that keep sane until APL :)

Hehe, thanks...I'm just standing with a bright kitchen light behind the camera...the only place in my house that is bright enough for a nighttime picture. I'm sure that would make any hair look shiny!
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Here are my updos that I can do at the moment- collar bone length. Piv comprehensive...
The one that works the best for me it’s a peacock twist held with two sticks.

Flipped buns are doable for me, held with sticks or a fork. For this one the direction of the twist will determine whether it’s a messy flip with hairs poking out, or tidy.

I can also manage a cinna-bun, well... just over an inch of the end makes it around to the start again. But this one is hit-and-miss, sometimes it holds and sometimes it doesn’t.

Those are some beautiful updos!! :) I think the peacock twist is my favorite.
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Beautiful updo's Kathie! Do you have a tutorial for the flipped bun? I can't figure it out... :o

MinderMutsig - that's wonderful growth!
I do what I think is a flipped bun: I make as close to a cinnabun as I can, then I take my fork and put it in from the bottom of my head heading to the top of my head. I put it into the middle of the bun; I make sure not to catch any of the scalp hairs like you normally would. When I've pushed the fork to where it's sticking out the other side of the bun, I flip the fork over with the tines as a pivot point. Now the bun is about an inch higher, and the hair that was underneath and hidden by the bun is now showing.
Hope this helps. I tried making a little graphic for this, but MS Paint is not a good tool for the job. Sorry. Maybe I'll try later from another computer.

Thank you that makes perfect sense! I couldn't figure out how that bun got inside-out.:o
I'll try it tomorrow and report back!
