Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Here's my hair - sorry for the cr*ppy pic (and for the frizzy brushed-out cinnabunwaves).
It looks like APL, but a towel test shows that I still need a bit of length, so I will wait another month and see. This is taking sooo long... I started with chin length almost two years ago

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
After another month and a microtrim I'm back at 21". I'm a lot happier with my hair at this length, it starts to head down my back rather than hanging around my shoulders and therefore starts to feel "long". I have a lot of bleach/damage still to trim away but I don't think I'll be going shorter than 21". My initial plan is to microtrim every month and then reassess how I feel a few months from now. Sorry no recent pictures, I've been pretty lazy, I promise I'll take a one year progress pic at the beginning of May though.
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
So I saw one of Torrin's tutorials and I fell in love with the bent double ended knitting pins, I picked up a pack of sock knitting needles and bent them using a sharpie and my bare hands! My just past shoulder hair has been up all day! Just had to share that here, one of these days I'll take a couple of shots and share them!
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I started SL around May 2012, and finally got to APL around December. My ends were/still are quite damaged so I've been doing a lot of trimming. Now I'm in APL no-man's-land. Can't seem to get past it, ugh. But at least the general population now considers my hair long, hooray for that!
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Wow! You all have such beautiful hair! It's so shiny! Very good job, ladies! well done.
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
My hair is still in the black hole between SL and APL. I've never had my hair longer than that, so I can't wait to say I'm past APL.
I saw somebody mention a "towel test" to see if their hair was APL. What is the towel test?

You wrap a towel around you, like when you get out of the shower, taht height is APL :)

How do you microtrim?
My hair is collarbone-length and I want to trim a little, but it's too short to really see what I'm doing...

good to know! My hair is as long as it's been in many years. Entering uncharted territory....
