It looks great! I love the color.

I don't really measure with a measuring tape, because of the curls...even if I stretch, I don't think it'll be consistent every time. What I do is take pics while my hair is soaking, damp and also dry. That at least gives me an idea of where my hair is ;) But truly, I measured how far my hair goes up now, and it's 3.7cm, so about 1.5 inches. Eventually I'll trim off the straight ends, and that will at least give me more defined curls...but I'll be shorter again! Nooooo!! :p
Having had both straight and curly hair, I can tell you that I think both have their own unique differences and tricks. But your hair is so shiny, I'm jealous! :rolling:
Thanks! :D
Pictures while the hair is wet, why didn't I think of that? Makes sense.

I need to find something to make it more steady, because I don't think it will last through a lot of activity... ;)
Very pretty!
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Hi, everyone. I'm not terribly active on this forum, but I do keep up reading in the group and wanted to pop in and say hello!
I LOVE that sock bun, Katleen! That looks so cute! I'd love to try that, I wonder if my hair could do it, I've got quite a few layers.
Roscata: you have beautiful hair, I have hair envy!
congrats to everyone who's hit APL! Woo! And everyone else who's close!
update on me: I also reached APL, but a couple of days ago trimmed 1/2 inch because I have a lot of bleach damage, so now I'm again hovering just above the towel line :p It's alright, I'll get there slowly, at least it will be healthy.
A month or so ago I dyed my hair with a deposit dye from Special effects. It's a deep pink called virgin rose. I lurve it! I get so many compliments on it and people trying to touch my hair, lol.
And OMG I have just discovered a wonderful hair care tip from LHC. Sleeping with silk! I don't have a cap, but I have a large 100% silk scarf that I wrap around my hair and tie it. Usually I have to pull it back on in the middle of the night once or twice, but it stays on fairly well for a scarf. I want to get a proper silk sleeping cap, but they aren't easy to find and my DH will  if I order something online, so for now the scarf will do BUT my hair is so silky, shiny and tidy when I wake up. Usually I look like a hot mess, hair everywhere and dry, ugh. SO, if you haven't started sleep on silk or satin, I highly suggest it :D
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
here's a pic of the color in case any one is interested:

thanks :) that's a very complicated question LOL! It was bleached blonde at one point but had since been dyed dark and I had henndigoed twice before I put the virgin rose on top. I was (happily) surprised it turned out so vibrant, and now I'm planning on keeping this colour. It isn't even fading, special effects is excellent.
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I haven't been on this thread in forever because of midterms :9 But they're now over, so I can join back in! :D
First of all, I am so happy because I finally reached 20 inches! I have been waiting for this moment for so long and now that I finally got here, I feel even more excited. Now there's only three inches until I reach APL! :cheese:
And secondly, it seems that my cone-free experiment is paying off, because my hair has gotten a lot more wavy! Before, I had even thought that I'm 1b/1c instead of 1c/2a, but I guess I was wrong.<3 I'm so happy and who knows, maybe I'll be able to change it to 2a one day!

This is my hair freshly trimmed and freshly dyed with Syoss 5-32 in blinding sunlight with my mother's index finger ^^ It's a little more purple in real life, but I just can't seem to get a good picture of that.
The colour looks great. And I'd really like to use one of those hair dyes you mentioned, but I made a commitment only to use ammonia-free hair dyes.(It still is tempting me, though.)

Towel Test Thursday (or TTT) is a tradition on this thread on every first Thursday of a month. People take a picture of their (mostly wet) hair with a towel wrapped around them on armpit level to show their length (and the distance to APL). It's lots of fun and a good way to get a glimpse at many a beautiful head of hair.
For inspiration, May pictures start around page 403 of this thread: (

Since you asked you're most certainly expected to join in with pictures ;) :D
As for other traditions, there is also "
Treatment Tuesday", which is every Tuesday when people share the treatment they did that day and last month there was also the first round of a "
Hair Toy Wednesday" (ugh, I think it actually had a more clever name which I can't remember...) which takes place on the second Wednesday of a month when people show styles with their favorite hair toys (That one might cost you a lot of money as it is filled with evil enabling ;))
Wow, I didn't know about all that! It sounds really fun. I guess I'll do a towel test next month then!:D

Your hair is really long and it looks lovely. Congrats on getting married!(And I'm getting a little bit jealous of you being in Hawaii ^ ^)
PS, did you know that your "Roscata" means "redhead" in Romanian? :D

why the commitment to ammonia-free? just out of healthy hair concerns or for other reasons? I personally am rather weird and *adore* both the smell of ammonia hair dye and how my hair feels afterwards. But maybe it just takes to it really well.

Welcome to the 20's lol!
Thank you! And yes that part is on purpose because I am Romanian and hoping other Romanians will see my username and figure it out. :D
