Your hair is beautiful! It looks so nice and thick and I'm loving the color!!
Hey!! A fine/medium wurly checking in here, currently shoulder length, but about APL when pulled straight. My mini goal is to be at APL dry and wurly. Will it ever get there? I am a slow grower, and having this crazy hair just makes it seem like it takes even longer to get just a little bit of noticeable growth. So frustrating!
I tried something last week and it left my hair feeling super clean, soft, and detangled! I thought maybe it was a fluke so I waited until the next washing period to make sure. Well, to my surprise, my next wash, which I normally need after 3 days, and I can stretch to 4 days, I did on day 4 (I was impatient) but could've probably stretched out at least another day. And the results were the same! super soft, shiny, and detangled hair :)
Here is what I did:
1. oiled my hair and scalp with the following mixture (I eyeballed the amounts): majority was grapes oil, then a squirt of argan oil, several drops of pure neem oil, a few drops of lavender essential oil, and a few drops of sage essential oil. Massaged it in and braided my hair for the day and left it in until the evening.
2. In the shower I first applied ACV (raw, without dilution) to my scalp and lengths. massaged it into my scalp a bit and then let it sit for about 5 minutes.
3. I then shampooed well (the first time it didn't lather, then I shampooed a second time to make sure all the oil came out) - I use the sulfate free Aveno shampoo
4. Then conditioner - the condition of that aveno set
5. combed it out (barely needed it, there were no knots) and let dry naturally
days later my boyfriend was still commenting on how soft my hair was! it was great :)
Thought I'd share
I'm glad it worked so well for you, it sounds nice. I have oiled with coconut and castor oils and then shampooed and then used a cold water vinegar rinse. I do have to lather 3 to 4 times when I oil.
Thanks everyone! I'm still totally geeking out about this.
hopefullocks - Welcome! Yeah, growing out as a wurly/curly can be totally frustrating. I find it helps to track growth wet and/or stretched because then you have the reassurance that, yes, it is in fact growing, especially when it feels like your wurls have been in the same place forever. Wishing you speedy growth!
RSunny - Wow that oiling sounds divine! I'm glad your hair loved it!
I googled something about fast hair growth, and this was posted on a forum:
"People complain that they don't have good hair growth and their hair is not growing. While mine is reverse case, my hair is growing so fast when I don't want it to grow so fast but it is growing fast in 6-7 inches in month like crazy. I got my hair cut till shoulder length and now within one and a half month it has reached till mid waist."
And someone replied to her and said:
"Wow !! 6-7 inches in a month is just amazing girl !! You are way above the average of 3-4 inches."
I just had to laugh at 3-4 inches being "average".
SPeaking of growth after my shower last night I wrapped a towel under my arms and my dry hair (had a shower cap on for the shower) is only about half an inch away from APL. But stretched it is there! WOOOHOO! Im going to wait til November to measure and call it but Im hoping by November I will be able to really say that Im at APL. So that was exciting. :)
I have a love hate relationship with oil. SOmetimes I think it makes my hair more dry. Or it makes it way too oily. I haven't found my happy place with oil yet.
