Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I've got 2 inches to go as well, unstretched. I've decided not to call until I look it without straightening. I just need to learn to keep away from the scissors, I've chopped off about 3 inches this year give or take. I'm going to spend next year micro-trimming between apl and bsl to get rid of my thin ends. Well, that's the plan anyway....
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I'm with you diddiedaisy, unless my hair looks apl the usual way I wear it (wavey) then I am not going to call it! I did a check the other day and my very bottom layer is finally just skimming the top of the towel. I plan to trim an inch off the longest layer in December though so am going to wait til then before I finally consider myself apl - hopefully after the trim I will have a thickerl hemline that is full apl. My year of microtrimming has been working great and I plan to do the same for 2015 - hopefully I can make it to bsl by end of next year. I too have been finding it hard to stay away from the scissors when I am frustrated with my thin ends but I have a great hairdresser who always talks me out of it.
Stay strong diddiedaisy - it will get there eventually :)
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Well I have good news, my new growth is at last travelling and my ponytail circumference has gone from around 2 inches max in December to 2 1/4 inches today. Ponytail withers away to about 1/2 inch at the most. Hence the scissor visits!!! And I still have a lot of hair that doesn't fit in the pony for measuring, so I reckon by time I can get it all in (which will probably be at least a year with my slow growth), I will get to at least 2 1/2 inches maybe more. Can't wait to start micro-trimming.
Maid M, its good to hear your trimming has worked for you.

I'm sitting here wondering...When my back finally reaches APL, my front will only be to shoulder, which do I consider myself? Does it count if only part of my hair is there?
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I think you have to decide that for yourself, SunlightShines. Just like how you have to decide whether to call it when it's there straight/wet, or dried wavy, and whether to call when it's touching, or there on a straight day, or there most days.

I'd probably go by, if whether the back, when pulled to the front, is at APL. But it's what ever counts to you :)
As for me, I think I'm pretty close. Maybe just an inch and a half to go. An armpit isn't the most definitive marker to me. Because some shirt's armpit might hang down a little more....
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Lots of us go by the towel test, peachyleshy. Wrap a towel round yourself, if the hair touches the towel you are APL :)
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
My hair was really curly yesterday, so I got my measurement tshirt out, it was only wavy today so I measured it wavy and then pulled it straight. The results are:-
Curly - 3 inches to apl
Wavy - 2 inches
Straight - 1 inch
By my calculations I will be apl wavy by Xmas. This is when I've decided to call it. Feels like I've been here forever, I will not go anywhere near the scissors now until I'm 1cm past solid apl. I'm too scissor happy. I would have been there curly now without my trims. I hope my growth doesn't slow down in winter, I've only been measuring this year.
I think once I get to apl I'll stop stressing about my growth.
How's everyone else doing?
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Hope Santa brings your goal!
I'm way past when stretched, but about 0.5" to go wavy, I think. Not looking until next month ;)

That's great two-wheels, you must be thrilled.
