I can't really blame it,the damage in the bottom 3-4" is horrific (and totally my own fault) but I'm starting to realise that I'm going to have to start cutting a bit more off and it's somewhat disappointing to push my APL date back even further, probably to next summer now :(
Just a suggestion: you could create a thread asking for suggestions of a shampoo and conditioner that's similar. Maybe it's just one particular ingredient that is causing you trouble. Trial and error can be so frustrating, though.

Hey everyone - what are some good buns that will work with this length? A cinnabun is getting boring. I tried a pencil bun, no dice. Any suggestions on what's working for you?

I'm mostly doing a lwb, but I doubt you could with your thickness.

Thank you :D

I might do that, thanks!

I can just barely get a cinnamon bun on a good day, the only other bun I can do is this cheat-y one: http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/...&articleid=205

My first French Braid that is recognizable as such :

(Notice all the bits sticking out - LAYERS)
I was so excited I ran around the house cackling and making everyone look at it. DH and DS were unimpressed; the only person who was halfway interested was DD (5 years old).
This is AWESOME because I have clinicals next month, and I have to have my hair up. The only thing I can make stick is a cinnabun and that won't hold up. I thought I'd be stuck with a ponytail, but now I can do a French Braid!!
Edit : I tried a Lazy Wrap Bun for about half an hour and gave up in frustration. I just could not get the last bit to wrap around my thumb.

What a pretty braid, Cafe au Lait ^-^
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I think my hair has stopped growing! I'm soooo annoyed. I'm so so so close to APL but it just never seems to get there, unless soaking west and I tilt my head back! I'm probably looking at the end of this year, or beginning of the next to reach it.

OOOOoooh ooooh oooooooh. I have a LWB suggestion. I am one inch shorter that you and I can do a LWB. Of course thickness matters and I am a 3" pony circ.
First, start up high on the head, then only wrap one finger.
Finally, OMIT the thumb wrap! just have the hair go right under the first loop. I have been doing it this way for two months. I just saw Bene's LWB video and realized that I was doing it "wrong." But it still worked! I am now able to do it with the thumb wrap, but that step is not necessary IMO.
Let me know how it turns out.
AWESOME FRENCH BRAID by the way!
