Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Hello growers,
Im at a solid collar bone length now, slowly slowly making its way down.
Have just moved house which has been a great distraction, have forgotten about my hair for a few weeks.
This time of year is super busy anyway (bring on Christmas!!) So happy to forget about my hair for a few more weeks.
Hope everyone is well x
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I'm about two inches down of my collarbone, and two inches before I hit APL. This length looks awful on me. My hair is thick and wavy, and it likes getting caught on my shoulders and forming a "shelf." I can't wait until my hair is long enough before the ends stop resting on my shoulders. The question is- when will this happen? My hair is driving me nuts and I almost wish it was back to being not-quite-shoulder length, but at the same time, I really do want my long hair back :(
Send support, this is driving me mad. And my friends don't understand why I'm so upset over hair.

Look at it this way: With your hair doing the flippy thing, as soon as it's past that stage it will feel as if you grew so much overnight! A few more inches and it will be so worth it! We all feel your struggle here :)
As for unsupportive friends, I complained about my hair to boyfriend, and he suggested I buzz it off... UGH!
MissMuse, great progress! <3

My hair does the flippy thing too, I'm in between shoulder and APL now, but my ends curl horribly, so it looks a lot shorter than it actually is. I keep it up all the time and a scrunchie or hair clip so I don't think about it as often. LOL and as for the unsupportive friends, I feel your pain there. My husband and best friend both like me with short hair, though my my husband is a bit more supportive of my want to have long hair. I'm having the manic seasonal want for a change, so I keep thinking of cutting my hair again. But I'm already a year and 5 months into this growth struggle. honestly I think we just need to delve a little bit into the neglect method other than caring for it as usual. That's what got me from pixie to chin.
.....sorry for the ramble. I just know those feelings right now.

Looks like my hair finally is getting past most awkward stage:D
My waves had gained some length, just enough to start doing their own thing. Now the spiralling in progress ;)
They are wet on this pic, freashly washed and styled.

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Hello, I'm joining this thread. My hair is about 3/4 ways down to collarbone length. I'm really enjoying this stage. Once it gets past collarbone, the risk of cutting goes up, so I'll need all the support I can get!
We have some family travel coming up, so it will be a good distraction and time for benign neglect.

Your hair is beautiful, Paulownia! Great progress :)
And welcome, EssleyBlue!

Lovely waves! Congrats. :)
My hair suddenly started wurling, especially the small baby hairs around my hairline. Must be the november humidity.

Sort of a progress pic with waves brushed out. I haven't brushed my hair for months lol. :D

It seems like only my shorter layers are growing in hopes of catching up to the rest of the hair.
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Hey everyone! I'm brand new here and I'm also at the awkward stage between shoulders and armpit length. I was past bra strap length when I cut it off in September due to headaches (which I figured out later was from magnesium deficiency and not from heavy hair.....ugh!!) It barely brushed my shoulders when I cut it but now it does the shelf thing on my shoulders that y'all talked about earlier.
To try to coax faster growth i take a multivitamin, frequent scalp massages while I scritch and preen, I use a boar bristle brush and spread a drop of peppermint essential oil directly on my scalp at least once a day.
Right now I'm trying my luck with water only washed but am only 2 weeks in, dealing with stringy oily and strangely frizzy hair. Protective styles have become my best friend!
I have a rosemary, chamomile and acv rinse with my name on it resting in my fridge to warm and pour onto my scalp tonight.
Jojoba oil mixed with castor oil, olive oil, grape seed oil, sunflower oil and avocado oil keeps my ends soft and manageable for now.
My goal is tailbone length eventually.
Thank me for letting me ramble! Have a great day!
