Congrats ReadingRenee and turtlelover!! Very excited for you!!
As for me, I'm doing all I can to love my hair every day. I had been thinking "I'll be happy when I get to APL.", but if I don't love my hair every step of the way, I will get frustrated and cut it. So, no matter how slow it grows, I know I will eventually get to longer lengths. But until then, I will love my hair, and I will love finding new hairstyles to try. I think tomorrow's 2nd day hairstyle will be: the ballerina bun. All this talk about it makes me want a big donut bun.
Congrats, turtlelover. I have been hanging out a bit on that thread hoping it will cause faster growth, lol.
Sweetaj you make important points! If we don't love our hair "now", we might not love it "then" either - it might always be lacking something or another in our minds. This is a long journey to to take, and having our hair as our friend and ally, instead of enemy, or source of irritation and unhappiness, will make it a pleasant journey during every step of the way.
Ok then.....things I like about my hair
1) I like the feel of longer hair
2) it seems very shiny
3) it is really soft and kind of fly away
4) I like being able to put it up when I want, like when I'm hot or working.....and having it down when I want
I don't like
1) when it blows around and tangles too much in the wind
2) I don't like that it won't grow to waist or beyond overnight, lol
So I guess I like more than I dislike.
Well, I don't like the thinning, but that is a beyond normal thing. And yesterday getting into my car I shut a little lock of hair in the door. That is one of those odd milestones.
Congrats Turtlelover and ReadingRenee! Fantastic to see folks graduating to the next level. :graduate:
Here's to hoping we'll join you all soon! For me I'm thinking I'll graduate in February. Marking off the days on my calendar until then... : )
Despite length, I have never not loved my hair. It has always been healthy and shiny and wonderful to me. I might wish for a different texture, but that doesn't mean I don't love my own. I am fond of my funky, foxy, coyotey hair color and wouldn't trade it for anything else.
Right now, the only thing I don't like is the length. It is long enough to get into trouble (in my mouth and under my husband's head/shoulder/elbow), but not long enough yet to have it fully up while still being loose. It requires too much tension in styling and winds up giving me a headache, unfortunately.
When it gets to the point when it can go all back, loosely, in a peacock twist with my ficcare I will be happy. Then I won't really care as much about the length, and it will just grow on me ;) Then it's all about the buns!!
Ooh! I'm joining in, think we need a boost of hair love at this length as it's easy to get discouraged.
I love...
1. The colour of my cassia/hennaed hair, particularly in the light.
2. How I don't have to worry much about dry/damaged ends and can experiment with my routine
3. That I can put it up without much weight on my scalp
4. It's quick and easy to detangle!
5. It's very soft and quite silky
6. I have discovered I am actually a wavy, like I always wanted to be! (Now if only the waves weren't so easily knocked out...)
7. I'm learning so many new hairstyles I can't keep up!
8. It's still not too hard to untangle my shed hairs from the hoover brush!
Things I'm less thrilled about...
1. It's hard to avoid scrutinising your length for growth progress (although I am resisting!)
2. It can be depressing to think about how far you have to go (grow!)
3. My hair flops over my shoulders whenever I wear it down (half ups help here)
4. It doesn't really feel long to me
More to like than dislike for sure! If I like my hair this much now, I enjoy thinking about how much fun I'm going to have when I reach BSL!
Pol, you thought of some things that I didn't. There really is a lot to like and the main complaint is that it needs to grow faster, lol.
