Yay! Don't you love reaching all the milestones?

I've mananged to do a very messy french braid (kind of!) today!! I'm so excited.
My layers are too short, so I needed clips to hold my hair, and there isn't much left in the 'tail', but it's going uphill from here!! :D
And you hair is so pretty and healthy looking!
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Amenahh - Beautiful color and so shiny!
RSunny - How often do you plan on using the clarifying shampoo? If you're looking for a good drugstore sulfate/cone free shampoo, try the OGX line - I love their Argan oil shampoo and conditioner, and I also use their coconut conditioner. (You should see in my shower, I have 4-5 different shampoos, and about 8 different conditioners!)
Kiiruna - Great pic! You have a lovely color! Are those waves from wearing your hair up, or natural?
missrandie - Now I'm heading to youtube to check out what a peacock twist is. I'm wondering if it's something I could do to use my ficcare hair toy I got last month that I haven't used yet.

Not really sure. The one I used was a sulfate shampoo - neutrogena anti-residue shampoo and I have the whole bottle left. I also bought mop top clarifying rescue treatment which is come and sulfate free since this is my first time dying CO without comes I'm not sure how long it will take for my hair to feel gross or if it will. If lucky, maybe I can do a clarifying treatment every 2-4 weeks? Is that reasonable? I've done a couple CO "washes" and my hair feels in between silky and conditioned borderline maybe too oily. I'm gonna keep it going a bit and see if my hair adjusts or if I can tweak my techniques to be more cleansing - more time soaking vs less etc. maybe add a ACV rinse.

You got it going in the right direction - it's all just trial and error and your hair will definitely adjust. A lot will depend also upon your water - is it hard or soft? Mine is very hard, so I use Ion hard water shampoo (from Sally's) once or twice a week. I did conditioner only for 6 weeks before I added back in the sulfate and cone free shampoos that I now use every other wash. Now that I can do at least one updo, I am going to stretch washes by a couple of days (I used to wash every day).

I'm not sure, I'm sure it's harder water. But I have a water filter on the showerhead. So maybe that helps?

You make a ponytail, but instead of tying it off, you twist it, flip it straight up, and clip it to the scalp hair wherever you want. Clip closer to the tail for more containment, or clip closer to the base for more "plumage."
Right now, I am lucky to get it all contained. Another inch of hair should make it a lot easier.
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
RSunny - The shower head filter should help a lot! I need to buy one.
missrandie - Thank you, that's what I was thinking it was. I think I'll test it out tomorrow!
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
The peacock twist has been a good go-to for me lately.
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I have never liked peacock twist, my coarser hairs just don't hang nicely, it pulls and I need to readjust often.
I posted my lenght photo today in my blog, I still have many months before me.
