Hey, what's wrong with a claw clip? I wear them alot, they're just so handy :p
This morning I thought it would be Towel Tuesday
When is the towel day now? Thursday? Or do it just once per month?
Regarding the mineral oil: I avoid it, as it is said to do build-up... I prefer natural oils like coconut oil.
Regarding the claw clip: I avoid it, too. I never found one without sharp edges which hurt my hair. :( I prefer Flexis: http://www.flexi8.com/
I do a ponytail and a french twist with them. There are other styles possible, but I don't like them with my curly hair...
I wear them, but I alternate with other hair toys. Most claw clips and other plastic hair toys have sharp seams, which can be a bit damaging for your hair, but I like to file them with sand paper or a nail file. Also hair can get caught in the hinge if you are not careful when you take them out. I haven't noticed any damage from claw clips myself.
ETA: I use about two drops on damp hair as a leave-in. It works a lot better for me than coconut oil, which is too heavy. It doesn't build up, and washes out easily with conditioner only. Mineral oil causing build up is just a myth apparently.
I forgot Treatment Tuesday. And now I am down with a killer cold. ugh.
I use claw clips often. That and fake-ares. I love those. I have never noticed any sharp bits on my claw clips.... and I never seem to get my hair caught in the hinge. So, they work well for me. I have some flexi-8s as well, but I just can't get them to work on my hair. They pull, or fall out. Maybe I am just doing it wrong. snerk. I am trying to keep away from hair ties, as they are sooo easy and I'd like to not end up in the ponytail rut.
I still have a while to go before I get to APL if I add in the trims I want to do. So, I think I see... 4 inches... or maybe even 5 (with those trims) before I reach APL. So, I'll be keeping you all company for a good long while. :)
Towel Thursday on the first Thursday of the month sounds great! We can take pictures to see the progress. :agree:
I use Flexi in M for a ponytail and a L for a French Twist. :)
(The French Twist is when I do a treatment to hold my hair up. In dry hair I would need a bigger Flexi.)
I don't know if you saw it, there is a sizing help on the Flexi-homepage: http://www.flexi8.com/sizing-and-sty...ml?id=xVjd4ebZ
After measuring your circumstance of your ponytail you can check which Flexi fits for you.
For me it fits. My circumstance is ~100mm and a M Flexi fits perfect.
(Some month ago I had only 70mm and during that time I wore a S.)
Hope this helps. :)
Hi everyone. I'm new here, I hope you don't mind if I jump in and grow with you :)
I have 3 inches until I hit APL. Sigh, hopefully it goes by fast. 3 months ago I had waist long hair, but for some stupid reason I wanted to cut it. Why, oh why? lol anyway, so now I'm growing it out, sigh.
I've never actually grown my hair out on purpose before. I wore a short bob for years and just kinda stopped doing anything to my hair and it grew like a weed. This time I think I will let my hair grow as long as it will, so I'm looking at the next 2-3 years for my growing journey, I think.
Right now I'm taking a bunch of supplements (5000mg biotin, msm, folic acid, vit D, multi and flax oil) I'm also drinking a daily dose of Green envy daily detox which says it's for healthy skin, nails and hair. Hoping that all of this could speed up my growth rate a bit, this is the first time I've ever taken supplements for hair. Not sure if that's just wishful thinking, but normally I grow 3/4 month, 1 inch a month would be just lovely.
Sorry to ramble on and on, anyway that's me and my hair in a nutshell :) Happy growing!
Hi everyone, I'm new here, I hope you don't mind if I just jump right in.
I'm growing out a shoulder length cut that I just recently got. 3 months ago my hair was wasit length. Who knows what possessed me, but I decided it was time for a hair change. Well, not I am missing my long hair like crazy (of course)! So, now here goes the growing out. It feels like it will take an eternity! I have 2.5-3 inches until I hit APL.
I've never really grown my hair out on purpose before. I used to wear it in a bob for years and then just kinda stopped doing anything with it and it grew like a weed. I don't have a goal length, I want to see just how long it will get, but I think it will be a 2-3 year growing journey.
Right now I'm taking supplements to see if it will boost my growth rate. I normally grow 3/4 inch a month, 1 inch would be just lovely. Not sure if that's just wishful thinking, but it will be fun to see. I'm taking 5000 mg of Biotin, MSM, folic acid, multi, vit D, flax oil and I take a daily dose of Green Envy daily detox, which is a super healthy green juice that is for healthy skin/hair/nails.
My hair routine: I wash with sulfate free shampoo once or twice a week, deep condition, use avocado and coconut oil because it is super dry from bleaching. I recently did a protein treatment because along wtih cutting of 12 inches of hair this winter I also decided to bleach the crap out of it. I'm a natural brunette and I went platinum blonde. Ugh. Why? lol I use heat. I really don't want to but I think I'm a heat addict, I need to go to meetings or something, lol. I am trying to use my flat iron on a low heat setting (230-300) and flat iron once every four days or so. It's a good flat iron 100% ceramic, if that means anything. I would like to go wavy and my hair is quite wavy (a bit curly) naturally but it's so damaged for the bleach, it's pretty much unbearable to just let it go natural right now. Can anyone say frizz ball? Vicious cycle, right? I'm never really taken special care of my hair though, it's pretty tough and resilient, so hopefully I can get away with the flat ironing. I just had a trim yesterday, about a 1/2 inch off, not planning on trimming it now until summer is over.
Wow, sorry for the novelette! But. that's me and my hair in a nutshell. I look forward to growing with all of you, happy growing!
