Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Hi, I'm ining all of you here:)
End of August, I had my last haircut.
In the back they had cut it to a length of about 1 inch, now, I'm at almost 6 inch:p
So I have good hope that in January or February I will get at APL:D
What vitamines do you guys take?

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
well, got my fiancé to measure my hair for me, and he thinks I only have around a quarter of an inch til I'm at APL, so fingers crossed end of December but more likely January I reckon.

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Seems like I'll be leaving you - reached APL - moving towards BSL :waving:

I only wish my hair grew that fast! My growth rate is technically above average but it still seems so slow compared to 5 inches in 4 months, that's great.

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I haven't had a proper (DH) measure since I got a trim last week - I figure I'll wait until the 1st comes around again. Oh wait, that's in like 2 days. Sheesh!
In other news, I went and got a Brazilian Blowout this weekend in nowheresville, PA because it was a really good deal and I was so sick of my hair. I "washed" (water only) it last night I still can't quite believe that I let my hair air dry and did not end up with a frizzy mess. It's not pin straight but it's darn close. Which I assume means if I learn how to use a round bbb with a blowdryer on cold, it will be. The downside is that wearing hair straight makes it even smaller volume-wise but still, I love my hair looking presentable down. In it's natural state it isn't at all presentable down.
I do know cringe-worthy image of damage this kind of treatment conjures. I'm convinced through research that the product itself is not particularly damaging, just the steaming hot flat iron used to seal it is. But once session of massive heat for 2-4 months of results was a worth while trade off in my opinion.
^ just a slightly different twist on what to do to get through this awkward stage!

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Congrats to all of you who are moving on! I can't wait to be one of you. :) That is going to be a very long time from now though.
I bought myself a fake ficcare today. It works really nice putting my hair up. I may have to get another. Who knows, maybe some year I will get a real one. :P

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
The longest layer of my hair is a bit past the tops of my shoulder blades now, so only another 3-4 inches to APL! I'm thinking I'll get a trim at that point to freshen my ends and reblend my layers, probably in March. My hair has also thickened back up at the hairline since I stopped taking Zyrtec (yay!) but as a result I have a couple of wisps that stick out around my temples and a bunch of baby hairs that are a few inches long and don't want to go into updos (not ideal, but I'll take it, I'll take it). My hair was really annoying me recently as a bunch of waves had hit an awkward stage, but things are better now. :-)

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Hello everyone! Since Im now able to touch collar bone with my longest layers, I think I ought to join you over here. It's nice to meet all of you!

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I am definitely part of this group!! Yay! I started growing my hair majorly when I cut it to an A-line recently. I had never really cared too much for my hair for the past few years and I just kept cutting it and trying new things, but now, I am ready to go back to where I was when I was younger. I was at tailbone length for most of my life, and I am ready to be back there again!
Currently my hair is to my shoulders, which is awesome because it grew from a little longer than chin length to here in just about three and a half months.
In order to do this, I have been majorly taking vitamins, and using a unique hair care routine that seems to be working well for me. I have also stopped blow drying and using other heat products. Either I leave my hair naturally crazy curly, or comb them into soft waves. My hair is in amazing health, so I feel that I am in the perfect place to be growing out my hair. There is no damage to me hair.
I am rather inpatient though and so I am trying to pretty much ignore my hair. I try and have it up most of the time and I always hide the end of my hair from view so that I won't be sad if I see that it isn't as long as I want it to be.
At the moment, my hair seems to be growing about 1 inch a month or so, so I am hoping that I will be at APL be my birthday in April!!

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
So I'm at an odd length ... if I take a picture and draw a line through my armpits, it looks as if I'm there already. But if I do the ceremonial towel test, I'm so freaking close to APL it hurts - but not there yet!

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I'm lurking in this thread, waiting for the moment when I can call myself officially shoulder length... I am quite strict I don't want to say I'm there until my hair is really a bit pas my shoulders.
Here is how it is now, what do you think, 1 or 2 more inches?

Hard to tell with your shoulders up...I think with 2 more inches you'll definitely be there though.
My hair still feels like "shoulder length" to me even though it's almost apl...grrr.
-
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
giuditta, I'd call that shoulder-length. When it's brushing the tops of your shoulders and you can put it all in a ponytail, it's not really short hair anymore. It looks lovely and healthy!
-
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Jaine you are right about that, my shoulders are a bit higher of course... I need to get a friend to take a picture of the back of my head instead of doing it in the mirror!
charybdis you are right it doesn't feel short anymore since I can do small updo's, but with my shoulders down it is barely brushing them, I need more growth!

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I've been lurking here for...a long time but thought i'd say hey, i've been growing from shoulder since February, still have anothe 2.5" until I hit APL, I have an uber long torso, i'm 5'11" So hopefully by Spring 2012 I'll be there
:-)

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I have a trim tomorrow. I'm really sad to lose any of the length I've gained, but I know I really do need it. My ends are very tangly and feel kind of rough.
-
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Can I join in? Currently somewhere around my shoulderblades, and my hair grows about 2cm per month.
My guess is that I could be hitting APL around March, I'll do a toweltest later today to be sure ;)

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Im right past APL working toward BSL now...seems like its just sitting at APL forever though!

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I'm just a couple inches past the top of my shoulder when I pull my hair straight. I've been growing it out from a pixie since July, 2010.
-
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I swear my hair has shrunk. heh. It feels so short all of a sudden. Eh, I will really take a look at it again at the end of the month.
-
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
So I'm officially at APL currently. I'm calling it, but I'm going to wait to move on until I feel like I have enough length to survive my trim in February without being back in the wasteland. Hehehe. I'll try to post pictures later this week.
Carissamarie08, congratulations!

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I will probably be here until spring, sigh... Hendigo tomorow! so the hair I do have will be soft and shiny and thick!
-
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Towel test done this morning, and I'm about 2 inches away from APL, so my guess for March is more or less correct I think...
-
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
just want to share a startpicture with all of you...
this is today, day 1.5 after washing (washed it yesterday around 7ish) must admit that I forgot to use my ACV rinse...
what do you think? How long would it approx. take to get to APL?
http://i1023.photobucket.com/albums/...e/PC110250.jpg
btw, it looks longer on a pic than it feels :p

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Woot!
My hair is now officially shoulder length when curly. That felt like it took forever!
Now on to APL....

Getting to APL feels like it's taking forever too..

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Stupidly cut back to barely below shoulder so.................... re-starting the journey to APL I guess!! I'll cheer when it gets back there for sure.
-
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Still here... :suspect: If I'm not at APL by February I'll be sooooo frustrated.

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!

It depends on your monthly growth rate and how many inches away from APL you are. To me it looks like you're about 2-3 inches away, with an average growth of .5 inches per month you're about 4-6 months away.

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
in september it was at schoulder length :)

2nd try...
