Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I got my SO to measure my hair yesterday & I'm now at 22". :)
I'm not sure if it's actually grown or if it was just because I brushed it & it was all wet, but... :p
I'm not sure where APL is on me (in inches) since I forgot to ask him to measure that too, but I can't be that for off, surely. I think by 23-24" I'll be solidly there?
I treated myself to some new shampoo, conditioner & oils anyway! :-)

I like how you can use your tattoo as a growth marker! :)
It looks so healthy, too!

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
After being cone-free for 2 years, i finally gave in to my cone-curiousness today and bought aussie 3 minute miracle mask :P. I want to see if it might work for me now that i don't wash my hair as often anymore.
...And it smells like bubblegum :D

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
As you can see in my pictures, I had really long hair.. It was down to my bum (I'm not up on the abbreviations, yet :P) But it was getting dry and frazzled on the ends so I decided to start again, short. My hair grows very fast so I'm not worried as such but I'm willing it to grow as fast as possible! Currently, my hair's almost to my shoulders.
I'm drinking 2 large whey protein shakes per day, skin, hair and nail suppliments, and massaging regularly.. Can anyone think of anything else I could be doing to encourage length?? And has anyone tried the caffeine shampoos?
This was my hair at it's longest :)http://a8.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot..._4140621_n.jpg

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
It was delightful having it so long! People used to comment on it all the time... I have a few mental health issues and ended up shaving a clump off it... which led to me having to cut it short but, I'm on the case and growing it again! This time, as my natural colour, blonde :D
And thank you, piratejenny!

I use caffeine in my face serum as it's supposed to be a good antioxidant but idk about using it in a rinse off product. I'm really not sure it would be of much benefit to the scalp since it's not on there very long.

Is anyone here using Monistat? Or other hair growth increasers?

I am, but I've only been using it for a fortnight or so.
There is a Monistat thread here if you haven't seen it yet:

I've been doing rooibos tea rinses every night, and I think it's definitely helping my growth. My hair is definitely a lot softer, too.

I just rinse my hair with rooibos tea every night, and sometimes in the morning I mist my scalp with it. There's a thread on it here.
I haven't miraculously grown an inch a week, but it makes my hair feel awesome, and even if the extra growth is all in my head, my hair looks and feels awesome, so I'm happy with it.

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I'm going to try the tie my hair up for a month challenge. Hopefully this neglect make time go faster because I'm not thinking about my hair so much. :S
-
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I use Castor Oil, mixed with Olive oil. It is supposed to help with growth. I wasn't sure if it was really working... but, I know I started doing it pretty regularly about 6 months ago, and this week I was noticing I have TONS of little 3+ inch hairs all over now. I know it wasn't a bad shed 6 months ago, so I am going with Castor Oil thickness. :) As for making hair grow faster... not a clue, but I am happy to try and thicken up my thin hair.
And now for Treatment Tuesday, the check-in. :) This past week I did a heavy overnight oil, my castor oil/olive oil mix on the scalp, and tons of coconut oil on the length. Then yesterday I did an SMT. My hair doesn't feel softer, but it has a ton of body today. I would almost say I have waves, which is impossible in my straight hair.
ILoveYou- Putting hair up all the time really help with the not thinking about hair, which, in turn makes it feel like it is growing faster. :)

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I've been trying to put my hair up as much as I can, but so far I can only make a ponytail.
-
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
For Tuesday Treatment I was oiling my hair. I applied the oil on dry hair and put it up for the night.
This morning I just wet my hair and but some AVG on it and on top of it again a little bit oil. I will CO-wash this evening.
-
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Treatment Tuesday... I was too busy yesterday with sick children and so on, but today I have the day off, and it's still Tuesday in Hawaii :-)
So I'll start my treatments right now and I'll check back in to tell you what I did...

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I'm doing Treatment Tuesday on Wednesday because I lost track of days :p
So tonight I'll be trying a protein treatment and seeing how that goes... :D
-
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Okay, check back in.
Did a clarification wash, and then put a hydrating mask on it. Left it on for a few hours while baking cakes, and after rinsing it out, put in a leave-in mask from Bona Cure (Schwarzkopf). I didn't put any gel or cream for my waves, but I did plop. So right now I have my beach waves that will have disappeared in a few hours, but at least my hair is very soft and shiney...
Next week is Towel Test Thursday again already... My hair seems to have stopped growing, I really need some warm weather!!!!
-
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I did a little treatment yesterday. I started out CWC washing it, an instead of conditioner at the end i used Aussies 3 minute miracle luscious long deep treatment. I really like that one, and tend to use it everytime i wash my hair. And then i for the first time tried coconut oil. I just put a bit of it in, when my hair had dried. I think it liked it, and it seems like the hair "drank" it all up, so i'm thinking about reapplying some today.
-
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Yeeah, nice topic!
My hair just reached shoulder length and I'm soo happy! On our way to APL!
I'm doubting if I should wash my hair today or stretch. Well, I think I'll stretch because it's not that greasy and I want to stretch my not-washing days anyway.
I want to do a honey/conditioner pre-poo treatment tomorrow which will take time.
Yesterday night I put some Coconut Oil in my ends and they are sooo soft now. Love it.
-
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Now that my hair's the longest it's been in years, the ends get dry and crunchy. I get a half-inch trimmed every four or five months (when it gets so crunchy and tangly I can't stand it.)
I still have a couple of tubes of conditioner that came with L'Oreal's Feria haircolor. (My son dyes his hair sometimes.) I put quite a lot of the conditioner on the last 5 inches of my hair. The ends feel as soft as they did when my hair was a lot shorter. This is great stuff! When I run out, I may buy the haircolor just for the conditioner!
-
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Is this your natural color? It's lovely! I also love your pendant.

Ooh i have a job interview tomorrow so i'll be washing my hair tonight.
Ever since I started this 'long hair stuff' i stopped using cones. The last couple of weeks i've been wondering how my hair would be like if i started using cones again, so i caved and bought a bottle of aussi 3 minute miracle (reconstructor) and a spraybottle of inecto leave in conditioner. I'm planning on using it either tonight or tomorrow.
I need some advice: should i wash it tonight and do headband curls or tomorrow and risk my own curl/wave? I really want to look nice for the interview tomorrow (evening) :)

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Wow, so much has happened while I was away traveling! Next time I need to remind you all if i'll be away for some time. hehehe Where to start.... Ok i've only gotten as far back as bunnysaur is now into rooibus treatments, what's up with Daniverde, MegaMystery, and Sillage!?!?! I've also seen someone posting a fork made by Gratoestudio (which by the way I just made my first custom order) AHHHHHH so much to tell you all. Recently I just visited.....try to guess where these babies come from...hehehehe :

I don't know if I'll make a big post on the Mane forum about my experiences visiting this place and meeting Maria or if I should just share it with this thread, although I know there are fans like Heidi and Madora (the lhc member) who would like to see and hear about it! Well I gotta run! I hope to catch up with some of you, and I've missed you all!

Hey Mega! Good luck with your interview!!!!:) It really depends... Do you want to look more professional and have a sleeked up look? By sleek I mean tying your hair back into a bun to have that clean professional sleeked back look. But for me, I would probably wash my hair before the interview, since you have to consider drying times if you want to avoid a blowdryer....

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I have 4-6 inches to go before I hit APL.
I am trying so hard to be patient...

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Well it's for a pharmacy kind of store, they sell mainly makeup and personal care items (not sure how to call it) and some medicines but not prescription.
So i just want to look nice and put together, but not too sleek because i want to look approachable and nice :)
About your combs: i'm not sure where they're from, did you visit Europe? The name sounds spanish to me somehow :P

Oh ok, then you have so many options! I think you have fabulous hair and color to begin with. If you want to look sophisticated and have bouncy curls or waves then i'd probably wash my hair before the interview because I'd set them in pin curls, or braids depending on the level of curliness or waviness. Plus, it's a good idea to set the hair well in advance (if you plan to have defined waves or curls) so that you'll have more time to prepare for the interview. If you've set up your hair the day before then it will help you do little styling and touch ups! I hope this helps.
The combs are from the George Michael salon for long hair. I went to the 44th Madison location in NYC USA! Yeah!

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Ugh. Sometimes I feel like I'll never make APL. I'm just about a month away from it now, but UGH! It feels like this is taking forever!!!
I treated myself to a new conditioner today (Suave Naturals Ocean Breeze) to help get me through the next few weeks. I really like it!!

We'll all get there eventually!
EDIT: I didn't have a chance to do Treatment Tuesday yesterday. I have a group project due today in my English class and I'm the only one who will do any work. I'll do a deep conditioning treatment tonight, my hair could certainly use it!

Hi Rowie! Welcome back! :) You were in NYC? :D
I've been good :D My longest layers are at APL, but I'm waiting until it gets longer to call it ;) Aaannnd...it's Towel Test Thursday again next week...will you share with us? :)

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Freaking A:D! I was watching a movie and I was playing with my hair, and all of a sudden I just started to naturally french braid it on my own. I wasn't even thinking about it, I just kept on letting my hands do its thing and this is what I ended up with!:
http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h1...igr/photo2.jpg
I was so excited after I completed my scalp that I rushed to my bathroom to attempt taking shots. I didn't even finish braiding the rest of my hair because I was so freaking excited that my very first attempt at french braiding my own hair was done while I was watching a movie. I guess for some beginners it helps to keep your mind occupied while french braiding your own hair for the very first time.
http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h1...igr/photo1.jpg
Ahhhh it is moments like these, that I am so glad to be back to share this with you all. Anyone else accidently french braided their own hair while watching a movie???? Does anyone have tips on how to do do self shots using an iPhone, I do apologize if my last pic is kind of blurry (I was so excited at that moment):happydance:.:joy: I'm awful at taking self shots.:disco:

Hey DaniVerde,
Yes I was in NYC for a couple of days. I was traveling around New England to visit other Ivy league schools. You see my graduate program only goes as far as the Master's degree. So now i'm looking at other schools for doctoral programs. I'll definitely try to participate on towel test Thursday. Congrats for your longest layers hitting APL. I'm glad you can stay here with us before moving on to the APL to BSL thread. I'm hoping that i'll be moving on to that thread with a couple of you in this thread. <hugs>:grouphug:

Congrats, rowie!! :cheese:
I haven't done a braid yet, but now I'll rent a film this weekend :D
For iPhone self shots, I find it easier to put the camera on top of my head with my back to the mirror, and to use the front camera :)

Thanks! Yes, try watching a movie and try not to think about what your hands are doing, and just let your hands do its thing! Good tip! I just try to avoid the front cam cause it sucks, but I guess I'd rather have better shots than quality.
Please keep us posted when you do! Love seeing any progress you make.

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Four more inches until *most* of my hair is APL!! Then I'll wait for it all to grow to APL and then wait some more to trim the damaged ends...I think I'll be on this thread until December 2012 :P
