Well done Kaji and Gemini!
Jaine, that updo is beautiful!
Hello!
I'm another that would belong here. I cut a lot of mechanical damage out about a month ago, so I'm just below shoulder, from somewhere between BSL and waist. *sighs*
Making it seem longer is the fact that getting moisture into my hair (finally!), the waves are getting wavier/curlier. This wouldn't be bad, but it makes it shorter! It also makes the fine/thin seem thicker, though, so not all bad.
Happy growing, everyone!
True..I always thought I had thin hair..But I was told I have alot of fine hair..I was explained the difference..Your hair does not look thin at all..Nice head of hair...Hey btw anyone know what to do for the frizzies?? without weighing the hair down??Thanks:poot:
I use to be a member here many many years ago..I left for awhile..I had my hair waist length and cut it! So now I am growing it back out and I had the severe A Line cut....Right now my hair is flipping on my shoulders..LOL..So I know what you mean..This is a great site and it helped me get my hair long last time and past that,I cant stand my hair stage there is no style..I feel you...Stay here and your hair will get long..So many nice helpful people here!! Happy Growing..:cheese:;)
My hair is now apl (yeey!) when stretched out with my hands or soaking weat, by soaking wet I mean when I actually have my hair under hard water stream. The second I take out my head from the water it shrinks back a couple of inches, when dry it shrinks back up to shoulder length. I barely have any curls left (due to previous overuse of heat, stopped using heat four months ago), so the shrinking is caused by my hated volume in the roots. Anyone who has got an idea how to relax the roots (without chemicals and heat ofc)?
Sometimes I leave my conditioner in, just washing it out from the ends, but it still rises up a good inch or sometimes two. Even when I am heavy oiling my scalp and roots it stands right up, I can literally put 10 tbl of oil in my roots without making the hair laying down the least.
I've always been struggling with my volume, but now when I don't flat iron my hair anymore it is practically unbareable for me. I guess when the hair gets longer (therefor heavier) the volume will decrease, but how should I manage until then?
Hi to all the new shoulder to APL peeps! :waving:
I know that with my hair, I had to figure out what was causing the frizzies. I think I narrowed it down to protein - every time I use a protein conditioner, my ends get frizzy. For me, I had to figure out what my hair likes and what it doesn't, and of course that involved lots of trial and error (ok, mostly error). YMMV, though. :flower:
I swear Im at APL when my hair is wet or maybe im losing it haha I think im close or according to my most recent pic today maybe you guys can have a quick look n let me know
Thanks all you rock.

OK think i got it now I HOPE
sorry all lol
oh gosh, this is the thread I belong to! It seems like this stage is the worst ever, no it IS ha ha I just don't feel pretty with it like this with no style and at this length. My go to style everyday is a ponytail! Thanks to everyone here you have helped encourage me that I'm not the only one struggling with this. Girls, we willl get there soon!
Brenda, yes this is definitely the worst stage:( But not long to go now:D
Honestly, I'd say not yet. Another inch and dry you will definitely be there. Unless you wanted to call it wet? I know some people do. :)
Personally I'll wait until dry and from the back it's a solid APL as my front is there now and my back is there (just) when wet and combed.
This last bit is sooo frustrating!!!
awww fanks for having a looky,,,, pixiestar as well. Nah id rather wait for it to be there while dry cuz lets face it its dry most of the time. It is soooo frustrating this stage indeed I so agree with you guys. Seems to grow like putt putt style lol I guess one day when we least expect it we will be there WOOT WOOT :cheese:
Thanks again ladies for having a look
I'm also a "going to APL"ler, my hair is something longer than CBL, in fact, there's 8cm left for wet-APL, dry-APL will take a bit longer I think. When my growth stays like it is or gets a bit faster, I'll get APL at the end of the year *yei* that would be fine! And then I hope, the worst thing is done when I got there...
It IS the worst. I have never had so many impulsive urges to chop it as I have during this stage. I know that once I get to APL it will be easier because I will be able to do much more with it. Right now I can't even get it into a proper ponytail because of my layers, but OTOH I dislike my hair even more without layers so I just have to suck it up and be patient (not my strongest trait - heh).
I hit the 20 inch mark today so that's reassuring. My hair IS growing, I think it just feels like it's taking forever because I'm so anxious to be done with this stage.
slo2gro, you're nearly there. I'm hovering about an inch away. I measured today and I'm officially at 21. APL is 22. Curses. So close...
I got a trim to rid myself of bad ends back from april when i destroyed my hair. I think i'm back where I started unfortunately so APL is still a way off however my hair feels much thicker again since the layers have gotten longer so there is a silver lining :)
ok ok am i getting closer lol
im getting anxious lol

Chin up slightly, I am there. Chin normal, I am like 1/4 inch away. This is agonizing!
Just cut my hair back to 17' due to the terrible splits. Now it's shoulder length and I'm trying to grow it to APL (for starters). Inspired some co-workers who are now challenging me to see who can grow their hair the fastest & healthiest by the end of this year. I need your help & guidance. I'm already taking supplements, drinking plenty of water, getting exercise and rest. Just any other good tips you may have please feel free to let me know!! Thanks in advance!!
Hello, lhangel9. I don't take supplements, just a normal/average diet. Castor oil really speeds up my growth, and also used miconazole nitrate but for now I'm just using the oil on the scalp sometimes.
For health, just make sure you have the right amounts of protein and moisture for your hair (this is an individual thing). Light oiling on towel dried/combed hair made the biggest difference in my hair (less fly-away, more shine and softness).
I might be "too mainstream" to recommend hair masks but lately I'm starting to like them again. :) Those 5min ones we can use in the shower are pretty good and practical. I like to keep my hair detangled most of the time too.
Am definitely only ~2" away from APL methinks. Will have to properly measure. But Im definitely closer!!
YAY we are all getting closer.... WOOT WOOT. Wont be long now. Ive got another inch or so if that too :)
I thought I was at APL and I realised that it is actually about 2 inches short of APL :( so I hopefully will be there definitely by Christmas x
If I tug my longest hairs, I reach APL!
Joy!
If my hair's wet and freshly combed and I tilt my head back a little . . .
Realistically though probably another month or two. I'll definitely be APL for uni holidays in November :D
My length (19.5", APL is 22") is getting to me so much atm. It is such an annoying length and I keep finding white dots. It's only shoulder length FFS!! (0.5" trimmed three weeks ago) and I have seldom heat styled in the past 2 years (never since joining LHC)
I suppose I should take into account I still have damage from bleaching out black dye 2+ years ago. It was done well by a hair dresser (slowly in 2-3 applications of bleach soak) and didn't seem too bad at the time, but im more than sure my ends are affected from this.
I finally made a lazy wrap bun, but damp. I put so much effort in it, I shouldn't be calling it lazy!
In a Dutch braid, the tips of the tassel hit my traps! So I am at SL I guess. If I go to lowest shoulder point, due to rounding in of my shoulders, that is at APL. But, my post surgery regrowth is pixie now.
Yeah. Kathie made one:

This is mine, and I barely had any ends left! Being layered helped, or I'd need more length.
