Nesoi congratulations!! I gazed at your beautiful hair for quite awhile :toast: I can't wait to get to APL.....happy happy for you!
Oh wow, thanks, you guys! What sweeties you all are :cloud9: I hope to see two_wheels and everyone else in the APL -BSL thread soon! I won't be leaving this thread though because I dig y'all so much ;) This is my favourite thread on LHC! I will stick around for :cheer: if that's ok :)
Well its been 2 weeks since I last did my roots and I've got 1/2 cm of growth. Great, you may be thinking, but my hair has followed the same pattern all year. Week 1 maybe 1 mm, week 2 I'm usually about 2 or 3 mm, week 3 up to 1/2 cm and by the end of week 4 I'll hit my 1cm. So I've hit my 1/2 cm a week early. I'm hoping this means I'll get more than my usual 1cm this month. If week 4 brings my usual 1/2cm then anything I grow over this next week will be extra. Even a couple of mm's will be welcome. Oh, and week 1 this month was a no growth, so I've got this growth just over the past week.
Hope this babbling makes sense, I'm tippy tappying through insomnia!!!
Some of the longer tips of my hair pass the towel test, more when wet. I'm hoping to totally pass it dry by January. Super excited! I have already noticed that my bun is slightly bigger and my braid is longer than when I was at shoulder length. I am looking forward to being able to do more intricate hairstyles soon. :D
I keep gravitating towards the waist to tailbone thread because I was in that range for sooo long. But I guess this is my new place!

In the future I'll suck it up and make the FH take my length pictures, because mirror pictures are terrible. But I wanted to check in as a newbie in the shoulder-to-APL range. You seem like a lovely bunch. :blossom:
Hi guys,
I just noticed that it takes about a "year" to grow from shoulder length to APL. Itīs such an odd stage and the hair doesnīt look good because itīs in between.
Here is a post from Nesoi where she shows her progress pics:
And I noticed that Iīll probably be looking at a year before I reach (if ever) the APL...
Here is my pic from October 30, 2013:

And this is one from July 28, 2014:

So probably by October maybe Iīll be getting there...It really does take forever and the difference is so minimal or so it seems.
Hey all, checking in as a newbie to this thread! *waves*
I guess you people will have to put up with me here for at least the next year or so ;)
This pic was taken last month

I can't wait to get to APL. I mean, seriously. I cannot wait!
Took a picture of my hair:

So close to APL!
Jennah, you are right. Obviously it's slightly different on everyone depending on their proportions, but a year seems about average to me. It doesn't seem like it should take so long!
An example thought would be Zesty, who has just rejoined us :) Her hair looks fab in the 'in-between' stage! As does yours, and I think everyone else in this thread has perfectly charming hair! It's all about appreciating every stage, I guess
Lol you're right there. The dreaded triangle head!!! I do think there is a 'nothing' stage to battle through before the hair starts to feel long!!
I have been stuck at shoulder length for SO long. I'm using Kerastase green and orange lines and have started doing S&D with Tweezerman stork scissors. I'm also using the Kerastase scalp serum for thinning hair. I used Kerastase Fibre Architecte today and my hair feels quite sticky. Did I use too much, possibly?
Also, can anyone recommend a moisturizing product that you can put on your dry/damaged ends throughout the day that doesn't cause stickiness? I'm using and loving Kerastase Touche Perfection, but with the amount of damage I have I'll need to use a tube a day! Can anyone recommend something to moisturize my dry and broken ends that I can put in obsessively throughout the day that won't cause any stick? :) Thank you!
lizsti, would aloe vera gel work? It tends to be a bit of a hair gel, so depending on your texture it may not benefit you, but it does also provide a lot of moisture.
Hi everyone! I think I'm ready to join!

When wet my hair is near APL but I'm trying to be patient and call milestones when I reach them curly.
Woohooooo, if I pull my hair straight at the front it's at apl.
I have realised that my hair grows faster than 15 cm/year, it's probably more like 20 cm/year. I will get to apl sooner than I thought! ;) Still quite long to wait but I'm happy!
Why is taking so long :(
Welcome cherrybird!
I have been lamenting triangleheadedness lately myself, everyone... and it doesn't help that my hair is still going to look like a grown out mullet until it's closer to APL.
Hi hi hi!! I haven't been "around" much because I am trying to obsess about my hair less (it's not really working). Anyway, a new month has come so I measured and I am now at 21" yes! So I only have 2 inches to go now until APL. I think I will get there by the end of the calendar year. I've had really slow growth recently, but I noticed in my pictures that my hair looks much fuller, so that's fine I guess.
Here's my length update picture!

Welcome cherrybird, and you're doing really well eva888!
Well. Post-holiday hair is a bit angry and fuzzy, and my shoulders are at an angle, but it hits the towel on both sides so I'm calling it. :happydance: It took MORE THAN THIRTEEN MONTHS you guys!

Congrats!!!!
Congratulations two-wheels, your hair is looking gorgeous.
Thanks moontree & diddiedaisy :cloud9: I wish you fast and healthy growth :blossom:
I'll still lurk this thread. And probably butt in with cheers from time to time :cheer:
Congratulations Nesoi and two_wheels!! And welcome Zesty, Kirzja, cherrybird, and eva888!!
I reached collarbone!! No pictures yet, but it's definitely there, maybe even a little past. My hair is so poofy/prone to the dreaded triangle-head that I hadn't noticed. This is about the longest I would let it get before chopping back to a pixie, and I'm so happy that itch is completely gone now. Everything from here on out will be almost like a new experience for me, since the only time it's been longer than this was when I was a freshman in high school, and I didn't care at all about my hair back then.
Whooo! Congratulations two_wheels, that's so exciting!
I measured my hair today, and stretched it got to 20" but straightened it's 19 1/4", and wavy it's like 17 :p
APL on me is 22" so stretched I should be there by Christmas, but then it will be another four-ish months after to look it.
Pictures! This is my hair combed as straight as will get without heat. I have such a long way to go, probably about a year.

So I got a trim on August 20th to give me more of a U shape. It was no more than an inch and a half. I am pretty close to APL. I think maybe by the end of the year. I will be APL or close to it. We shall see... Ready, Set, Grow!
MEMEMEMEME i JUST reached shoulder in the past 3 weeks! i had a major growth spurt :D
Ahh, thankyou 2a-sister!
two_wheels, your hair looks healthy!
A third place to post these, cool :) Both taken today.

My hair has been growing slow this summer. I did hit collarbone though! Yay!
Come on winter growth spurt! Hopefully I can get the usual 1.5" per month during the winter. That will help out a lot!
I've been wearing my hair up with spin pins every day and just ignoring it. I don't really like how it looks down, so I'll probably just not bother with it until I notice splits or damage and then get a trim and layer it so I'm happier.
I'm so eager for APL.
