Well, I wouldn't mind having lighter hair, but seeing the honey bleach damage threads makes me a little scared. Especially since my hair, due to moving to a hard water area, is quite fragile to begin with. You're probably right about the blowdryer... I will try and see.
Hmm yeah, you're probably right. I don't have a kettle, but I do have a frying pan :D Good idea!
Well... Not very well :( I found my normal conditioner, and it still didn't work. I wouldn't be surprised if I am now known as the girl with greasy hair, even though I wash it every other day. Today I washed with SLeS shampoo (again) and for the first time in more than a year used a treatment with dimethicone just as an experiment. My hair still hasn't dried, so I don't know how it will work out. But I found a split hair yesterday, so I'm terrified and willing to do anything!
I am going to be on holidays for the next little bit. I am going to try to ignore my hair while gone, maybe it will feel like it has grown then.
May you all get amazing hair growth while I am gone. :)
Have fun on holiday, kielrain!
I just wanted to add that as my hair is getting longer, and I've inadvertently switched off cones, I seem to be getting waves! I'm definitely still in the 1b range, but I think I might end up as a 1c or maybe a 2a eventually. AAAACCCKKKK I'M SO EXCITED! :D
For most of my life I thought my hair was straight, very frizzy and greasy. Since switching to a more natural regimen and stretching my washes I found out that my hair is clearly not straight, produces way less oil than I thought and my frizz these days is mainly from baby hairs sprouting all over the place :D
I guess the rooibos hair treatment is working for you? Maybe I should give it a try... I've also switched back to a no silicone and sulfate free hair line by L'OREAL, and my hair now gets wavier and curlier when I air dry, but i'll probably switch back to cones on hot humid days because I just want to avoid frizzy hair days if I can. hahaha
I think it's working. My hair is definitely a lot softer, and my hemline is thicker, but that might just be because of my natural growth. My measurements don't seem to be too reliable, but I've definitely grown so... idk.
I just caved and am currently dying my hair back to something pretty close to its natural color. The black had faded into some weird dark brown that I didn't like, and there were random spots were the original dye hadn't taken and it looked awful. On top of that, my roots looked ashy, and almost grey up against it, and I just couldn't take it. Hopefully it'll turn out awesome!
ETA: It turned out horribly. :( my roots turned a bright auburn and the rest of my hair is still super dark. I don't know what to do...
I've been browsing through old pictures and I miss my curly hair. Here is a good one and here is another. I don't have any product in my hair in either of them and I really miss my curly hair. For the life of me I can't seem to figure out what I was doing to get such curly hair. I'm thinking about cutting it shorter again (chin length or maybe a bit shorter) to see if that will revive some of the curls, god knows the last couple of inches of my hair is nothing but fried nastiness anyways. I just baby it too keep it looking nice. Idk, any thoughts?
I was so upset about it last night that shortly after posting, I went back to Walmart and picked up a box of the L'Oreal version of color oops. I used it, and my hair is actually in pretty awesome shape. After I dyed it, I used my super deep conditioner, and then after the color remover I conditioned like 3 times in the shower. At this point, it's just my ends that are a little scraggly, but I looked for a good long time and couldn't find a single split.
Oh, and my hair is currently 3 different shades of orange and light brown. :o
ETA: Just re-colored it close to my natural color and conditioned the hell out of it. It doesn't feel damaged, and it's just a slightly lighter brown than natural. It doesn't look bad. I'm just going to baby it for a while and maybe start microtrimming when I hit APL.
It should look fine growing out if the length is a bit lighter than the roots, most people sun bleach a bit. The problem is if your length is darker than your roots.
ps I agree with the plan to baby and microtrim, I would also suggest oiling and tucking your ends, it really seemed to help mine.
I used a keratin treatment on them this morning, but it was the last of the sample I had of it. It did help, but I don't think the improvement was enough to warrant running to Walmart to get more. Especially because they don't sell the kind I used, and it would take at least a day to get it here... :p
Which keratin treatment did you use?
I used this one. I only had a mini sample size, but I made it last for two applications. It was fairly awesome, I wish I could afford the full size!
We're in the middle of moving so I haven't been able to do any of my Monistat or M-T-G treatments, and I've just been keeping my hair up...but here is my week's progress. This week's photo was taken on my cell phone so the resolution is way off. I don't seem to really be gaining length, but it seems to be thickening.

I cut my hair to pixie length as it was so damaged, so I'm off to the short hair thread!
Bobette good luck with growing your hair out, we'll see you again in a while :)
Hallo Mega mystery!goed je te zien! (hahaha I used google translate to write this, and as well to translate your cooking blog) That chili con carne looks super yummy! I'll have to try it! How are you? How did the interview go? How did you style your hair?
I find it interesting how some Dutch words are similar to German words.:smirk: hehehe Hope all is well with you!
What's up with me? What's up with you! I'm glad you're back. Sounds silly but I was actually worried about you. :o
I've been having some health problems but I think I'm getting better now. I'm still on my product diet (no new stuff til I use up what I have!) and my hair is growing at a snail's pace. Can't wait to see the results for Towel Test Thursday, though. Hope springs eternal! :D
I have this poster on my wall rn

So it can't be thaaaaaat bad ;)
Your Tuesday treatment sounds so luxurious... do you use the coconut milk straight or mix it in with stuff?
Hey guys and girls!
I co-washed my hair this morning, but no further treatments. Spent the long weekend at my parent's place and that was my ultimate luxurious treatment :-) Grandparents to play with the children, sleeping in and lazing about for two whole days...
Towel Test Thursday is coming up, and I'm curious about the outcome, I feel like my hair has stopped growing :-( But on the other hand, my roots are showing after my dye-job from March 27th, so it must have grown a bit...
Rowie, welcome back!! And Sillage, I hope your health will soon get better!
So, for Treatment Tuesday, I probably did more harm than good. On top of all the harm I did on Saturday/Sunday.
I went swimming, and now my hair feels like straw, even though I showered immediately after, CWC and a moisture treatment. My scalp is super itchy, so I think I'm gonna spray some rooibos on it and then slather some avocado/neem oil on it and oil my length with... something, I guess.
Now I'm growing out damage instead of just color. Yay!

A bit early, but seeing as I will be leaving next month before the first Thursday to study abroad, I'll just post a pic of my hair right now. I cut it to a bob in December.
:grouphug: I hope you are feeling better! Yeah I've been travelling a lot lately. I started to use the Loreal Eversleek line and I love it. Today for my treatment I used the Eversleek deep conditioning treatment, after that I used the humidity protectant and then I put the sulfates/silicone free serum from the same line. I have to say my hair feels so smooth, yet it retained and defined my wavy hair texture. I'd definitely recommend this line. Although sometimes I miss my cones. hehehe. I hope you feel better so that your hair will start to grow fast again. Yay now we are all on again!
Yay, my first ever Grahtoestudio custom hair fork is done! Kimi (the owner) spent so many days talking to me before she finished this piece for me. She emailed me pictures this morning and I was like OMG, it's huge!!!!! She told me that, based on all the pictures i've sent her, this is the right size and piece. I guess because she is encouraging me to keep wearing my hair up, and so she designed a piece that should carry me all the way to waist and beyond. Omg I feel so intimidated right now. I'll definitely need some help with advice when this piece arrives, please... I'll probably end up experimenting with different kinds of french twists, and peacock styles to make this piece work for my current length! I don't think i'll be able to do a bun with this piece, but styled more like ravenheather. Here is the preview she sent, along with action shots for my first ever Grahtoestudio hair fork:

Wow! That is a HUGE fork, rowie! I bet it'll look awesome in your hair!
I now have 2 pairs of Pacific Merchantile sticks, and a couple singles. I can't wait to grow another inch or two so I can use them properly!
Yeah I know! right! But that is their company's signature style. To be bold and wear a piece that dominates the head. Thanks for the encouragement.
Ooooh I don't remember if you posted any action shots of your hair sticks. Isn't it nice that we can finally play with hairtoys!!! :D Maybe we can have a day where we all play around with hair toys. It would be perfect for us to see each other's style and then copy it, cause I know for me, at this stage of my hair growth, I'm already having difficulties making up styles because I can't do a good perfect solid bun. But at least most of us in here can do a basic french braid. :happydance:
I just took a pic but I'm having trouble putting it in an album... I'll edit this in a little bit after I get it working!
ETA:
Here ya go, rowie!

It's not a very good shot, but hey, it's the back of my head we're talking about! :p
I still struggle with French braids, but that's mostly because my layers start falling out and the whole thing falls apart and I just give up :o I'm really looking forward to being able to do a proper fishtail braid. A hairstyle day sounds like fun! I can't think of any alliterative names for one, where's Sillage?
ETA 2: NOOOOOO! My pic doesn't seem to be working. Darnit! Can anyone see it?
ETA 3: If you right-click on it, and select "Open image in new tab" it'll show up.
I tried to post it for you Bunnysaur, but it's HUGE. Here's a hot link in stead: http://i48.tinypic.com/2jdghmg.jpg
I love your hair sticks by the way.
Just looking, I am SO CLOSE to APL I CAN ALMOST TASTE IT. I can't wait for towel test. I'm going to scalp massage RIGHT NOW.
ETA: My reward to self for reaching APL for the first time ever is going to be a hair fork, I think. :D
