Curly hair holds tension like a beast. My guess is that you had an incredible amount of tension across that stick and didn't even notice it because it didn't fall out and it didn't require tension on your scalp.

I had to search high and low for this thread and I found it yay! I should be back at apl by dec and bsl july/aug 2013.

Lots of people rave about Pacific Mercantile's acrylic sticks for strength (Etsy). Don't think they're too expensive, either.

It's very messy, and the pic sucks, but it held!!

The fork blends into my hair pretty well.. I should get a different color so it stands out. Got it from this Etsy store - http://www.etsy.com/shop/EnchantedIn...ef=seller_info. Not sure to link to the specific fork tho..
