Ooh, this is a great idea. If I can't manage it now, I'm sure I'll be able to soon. I get so frustrated because my top layers are slightly longer than jaw length, so even though I'm happy about the longer layers, it's a painfully long wait before I can even do some styles for collarbone length hair. Plus it's thick, so that makes it harder too. But I'm going to try some form of this tomorrow and see if I can make it work.
Thanks everyone. I'm happy to help. But I can't say its all me. I saw something similar here- 2 cinnabuns on top of each other. I think it was called a military bun, but I could also be completely wrong. Also I was thinking of the disc bun too, which is essentially just two lazy wraps.
Abacus, your spirals are beautiful!
Hi all:
Here is my 2-month update (after washing, blowing out, light oil). I hope to make it to APL by the end of April. It looks like my sleep braids are hurting my ends somehow, so I may try to go without braiding for the next couple of months. I'll probably do my 6-month trim in April as well.

BTW the striped dress is no more! So I'll have to gauge milestones by using a towel.

Secrete Soup, an April goal looks achievable. I also really like the shape of your hemline.
I'm in this category right now, I find that it has definite pros and cons but I'm happy to be able to braid again and do a solid peacock twist. I can't wait for LWB territory so I can break out my sticks again. Every day I regret cutting my hair and regret letting someone dye it. Had I listened to myself instead of my anxiety I bet my hair would be past fingertip by now.....Currently I've been doing frequent oilings and scalp massages to keep the damaged parts manageable and to help grow healthier hair. My hair has really become a source of comfort lately and taking care of it is soothing, I'm ready to have my hair blanket back, though I know I should have a few more inches once the new school year starts.
My current 8th graders remember me with super long hair from when they were 6th graders and have always been sweet and supportive through my hair journey. It's funny and sweet how middle school kids definitely understand hair angst lol!
Happy growing everyone!
Clandestine, I feel you on regretting letting someone dye your hair. I dealt with that feeling for so long.
I'm starting to really enjoy the length of my hair (it's just creeping over collarbone length). I feel like I've moved out of a really difficult length on me. Even though my hair doesn't really look any longer, I feel like every single week it just feels easier to put it up. It looks more graceful when it's pulled back. I don't have to pull it as tight as it can go to get it all into two buns or into a tiny ponytail. It feels really good.
This is longer than my hair has been in over ten years. So to me, I officially have long hair now lol.
Abacus, that's a great feeling being able to put your hair up without it being so tight. That's definitely progress!
