The sides of my hair are thin and sort of feathery looking too, but with me I think it's just the way my hair grows. Would a wee trim or reshape be a good idea for you? With a different hairdresser of course.

I'm stuck in the frustration of Eternal Shoulder Length, so it was good to be able to mark a small milestone. I can do a tiny bun with sticks now, and it holds!
I did a braided bun this time, because I just wanted to put it up for the shower, and I figured that might keep everything in better. Then I realised that we'd been so tired last night when we got home from a friend's wedding that we'd completely forgotten to put the water heater on. So now I'm on LHC and waiting for the water to heat up...

Arg, eternal shoulder length is so annoying! But, as another friend noted yesterday, it looks like it's stuck at shoulder length for so long because shoulders are a pretty big part of the body. I need more patience...
Looking great, _fred_! I'm just barely able to get my hair to make a bun, more of a barely contained twist at this point than anything, so I can't use any of my sticks quite yet, just my forks. I'm sure in a few months I'll be able to start using my thinner/paired wood sticks, but I have no idea how long it will be to use my thicker turned acrylics and my TTs. I miss them soo much!
That looks awesome _fred_!
Love it, _fred_!
Nicely done _fred_! Funny enough, I never thought of doing a braided bun with sticks (I'm seriously lacking in the creativity department!), but I would think it holds so much better. Do you think spiral sticks hold better than the regular ones? I have a feeling that, even after I've gained more length, straight sticks won't be able to hold my slippery hair.
And you are not that far away from APL, I think one of the reasons for feeling like it takes forever is that we go from a shorter length to "my hair finally feels long", and we just become more impatient about it. At least, that's what it's like for me.
wispe, I've seen the fork buns in another thread, you have amazing skills with hair! I can barely do a couple of buns with my hair and you did 3, at a shorter length :D
I don’t know how to explain this but I’m sure my hair feels more swishy when I move my head .
Still feel like APL is taking forever !! One moment I think I’m an inch away and then I doubt myself again
Thank you! Oooh, I definitely have stufflust for TTs, but I figure I have long enough to save up for one considering it'll be a while before I can use them! I hope it won't be so long for you though.
I bought my first little wooden two pronged fork the other day, can't wait for it to arrive. Here's hoping I can get it to work...
Thank you, raemarthe and Corvana! :blossom:
Thank you! They didn't hold quite as well as my knitting needle U-pins, but they held well enough. Not sure I'll be wearing it to work like that for a while though! I think you're right, the spirals hold way better. I like bendy sticks the best right now - I just need more length to wear most of the hair toys I bought. I'm lucky(ish) in that my hair's super grabby, and hardly ever just slips out of things.
Ah, I wish I was close! Although it looks like I only have an inch to go stretched when I look at the front, in reality I have a good three inches to go (I measured!). I'm totally with you in the impatience! But hey, it'll get there eventually, and I need to focus on enjoying it no matter the length.
Gotta love that swish! I know that feeling well :D And the feeling about APL taking forever...

I think it's my favorite, because I keep trying it even though it's not successful (in terms of longevity). But this one is better than the last a couple weeks ago! So progress, either way.
