I'm in the process of growing out a pixie. I haven't had my hair cut since January... she said she was giving me a cut to transition out of the pixie. I'm pretty sure the assumption was I'd get another trim sooner than now for a smoother transition. My ends are fine. My hair is in great condition. I wear it up 90% of the time anyway in flexi-8s. I can't decide whether I should hold out until January 2018 like I planned for the next trim or if I should go in now just to straighten things out. The problem is the back is the longest and the sides are only chin. No way am I getting a chop to chin. The sides could probably be made into more face framing bangs if needed.
Should I just hold out until January? My hair looks like crap down, but I don't wear it down anyway. Though the two may be related.

I can't see your images, but I can tell they're there because the URL exists in the quote. I don't know if you're aware, but photobucket no longer allows hotlinking or hosting images without paying the extortion fee ($400/year!). There's some rare exceptions still, but they're slowly all being weeded out and replaced with error images.
Anyway, I'd personally wait more. I grew out a pixie-turned-mohawk, and I'd only trim when the layer I was trimming to hit shoulder. Then I'd trim the rest to shoulder, and leave anything shorter alone. It took me a year of doing this to get all but like one layer out. And I thought it was all of them, tbh, but I recently found one that's sort of in the middle of my hair (close to the top of my head) and it's blended in pretty well so I just ignore it.
But it shouldn't take as many trims for you, considering most pixies grow out a little nicer than a mohawk lol. And what's 2.5 more months, honestly? You'll gain about an inch (more if your growth rate is more than the average), and that'll be that much more in the front for blending with the back.
Hello everyone, just checking in here! I cut my hair to midneck length earlier in the year (February maybe?) and now the front is past collarbone length and the back is touching my shoulders. It is asymmetric so I may need to trim it to even the hemline but for now it is in good condition and growing just fine! :)
So I went and got a trim a week or so ago. This means I have "failed" the no-trimming challenge for the second half of this year. But I realized something from this experience of actually committing to a challenge. It make it REALLY hard to just forget about your hair and let it grow. So I think I have determined that challenges don't help me, they just stress me out.
Any how, my hair is still hitting my shoulders because the hair dresser only took 1 cm off the length and gave me bangs, which seem to already be growing super fast. My hair seems to be super happy with whatever I am doing for it. Which is wonderful. Frizz is down, hair is soft. Now it just needs to grow grow grow!
Has anyone else felt similar about challenges? Do they stress you out, or help you out? Also, for those who are almost to APL and have wavy, or curly hair, have you noticed your curls becoming more or less defined as you add length? My hair seems to be becoming less defined and I am only at collarbone on a good day.
Thank you, Corvana :o you seem to have the same growth as me atm, haha. We're all slowly getting there, slooowly, or well, not you, Joyful Mystery, you're almost there! :D
My hair is feeling longer and longer every day, I doubt my hair grows fast enough to really have it be a difference between days, but my hair is really starting to feel long my now. However, looking at myself in the mirror and seeing where my waist is...was my hair really that long in 2016? that's crazy! I should really enjoy the ride more this time around and not "just grow it". (+ I should try to take a lot more pictures and try to make many more updos).
(Btw, I think that the spiral hair stick I used helped a lot with keeping that flipped cinnabun up, I can not make it hold with a normal hair stick.)
Vanille_, I can't see your photos, I will assume it is because you use photobucket (which people can't share photos from anymore without paying a lot of money, I suggest changing to imgur or something else that's free!). I would say that if your hair doesn't bother you the way it is now, there really isn't any reason to cut it. If you don't wear it down anyway, does it really matter how it looks? :p I have had a few strange styles over the years just because I didn't care to cut it to a better "transition style", but it worked fine anyway :bluebiggr
Renora25, challenges are only there to join if you feel that you'll benefit from them, if you don't, I don't see any reason to stay in them, so I think you did the right thing. There is no need to force yourself to follow what feels stressful :)
I've dropped out of a few challenges on here, but I usually just disappear from the thread when I notice that it's not working for me. Sometimes I do join a challenge, I think I joined one of the "no trimming" challenges as well, and I just never write anything in the threads, I simply just forget about it.
Welcome to the thread, Squirrelspring! :D
