You definitely don't want shrinkage. Shrinkage is annoying.
Actually, one funny thing about it is that, by the time my hair gets significantly longer - maybe BSL, but definitely waist - my braid is 'longer' than my hair is when it's down.

Much as I agree the flippy ends are cute, I also feel you Corvana. I'm in the same boat. My hair's past collarbone now, and feeling fuller and longer, but damnit it bounces up to above shoulder length whenever it feels like it. I'm beginning to feel the length more now though, and my next trim isn't scheduled until at least January, so hopefully it'll continue to feel longer! APL is a long way away, mostly because I'm tall, but I'm hoping it's not as far away as I think!
When it's laying flattish, it's creepy slowly downwards:

I think I'm just a couple of inches away from my longest lengths reaching APL. Hoping it will get there around November. :)
I tried adding a cone-heavy conditioner to my shampoo and oil routine yesterday, and it didn't go well. I ended up with frizzy, fluffy, poofy hair. That one will need a rethink.
Oops! This wasn't supposed to happen. It's pure coincidence that I found a good spot to get a length photo in natural light on the first of the month. I don't intend it to become a regular thing.

Looking good, _fred_! Love the colour! :o
I envy your curls, Alibran. I understand that shrinkage is annoying, but to me the fact that curls are so pretty makes up for it! Really wish I had curly hair, but I don't.
I still have no idea how to care for my hair, I've noticed that the top half of my head likes when I wash with cleansing conditioner, it lies down neatly, feels nice and has no frizz, but then further down you can see that it's frizzy and dry. I do use conditioner, but they don't seem to work. Why does it work on the hair close to the scalp but not on the rest? Should I have my hair drenched in it for 10 minutes? Should I try aloe vera, leave in conditioner and oil?
And on top of all that this cleansing conditioner is a bit too expensive for me to justify buying again, feels like I use 1/4 of the can every time I use it, so I don't know what to do after I'm done with this product.
Estrid, I love my curls really, but shrinkage is still annoying.
Are you doing CO? I remember the cost of conditioner getting out of hand when I was doing that. I've had my best success with oil (in my case, coconut oil) applied when my hair is soaking wet, but my hair may be something of an anomaly!
I used to do CO many years ago but stopped when I got too paranoid about hair loss, I'm still not sure if I actually lost more hair or not, I haven't been washing with conditioner since then.
I've tried this cleansing conditioner since a month back or so, it was supposed to be something else (not 100 % conditioner), but I dunno, the price is concerning me. Maybe I should try to CO again with the conditioner I used before, I know I finished those bottles really fast but at least those were extremely cheap, so it doesn't matter as much.
I could try coconut oil, I've never even bought it before. I feel like I will be one of those people it won't work on, but how should I know if I never try? :p
Lookin good, _fred_!!
:cheer:
I also envy Alibran's curls :crush:
As for the cleansing conditioner, there's a brand here in the US that maybe you can see about getting? Renpure. I used theeeee pomegranate? It was really nice! And the bottle was like $8 for 16oz. I don't know if you can get it, or if it'd be a feasible price if you can (shipping and such), but something to look into!
And I would definitely look into a new conditioner! I use ones for dry hair, because I've always liked them, and then I occasionally deep condition (current favorite there is L'Oreal nature's therapy mega moisture) just to do more. Gonna try Aussie 3MM moist here soon, but I'm going to my best friend's place this weekend and she has the NTMM and I don't so I'm gonna use that before trying the Aussie
I do an oil rinse, like Alibran does! I looooove it. Next week I'll be testing it out between conditions (I WCC), but even before both I've noticed a nice difference. And it's nice to not have to worry about over oiling. I don't use coconut, of course, my hair hates it, but I don't think it matters the oil as long as your hair likes it!
You can also put a little oil in your damp hair after a shower, as well! I did that for a few months and did really like it! But I would occasionally over oil a spot (and miss others lol), and have found ROO to fix that problem right up.
I would really like to have something I can find in the stores here or in a place I trust online, I see that they are on amazon, but I'm not a fan of amazon. I'm thinking about trying the Jessicurl cleansing cream instead, I know it's a bit pricey, but still less than half the price of the one I'm using now x)
I've tried probably over 30 different conditioners in my life and none has ever worked for other than detangling, so I'm sure my hair needs something else. I mean, for many years, and still occasionally today, I leave out conditioner since it really doesn't do anything magical to me.
Oh, were we talking about oil rinses? I've done ROO before, with mineral oil though since that was what I had, it didn't do that much. I guess I could try putting it in and not rinsing it out. Not sure if I should go on with mineral oil or try the jojoba oil that I use for my face normally.
