Congrats to your friend and her daughter! They sound like an inspiration :)
Thank you! I was pleasantly surprised by how pretty it was haha.
And yep! At some point I won't be able to use it anymore, but it's great for now! Even if it doesn't look like I've gained anything with these flippies
And thanks! Surprisingly both of my best friends are longhairs, so I know that they will easily support my desire for super long hair.

Corvana, I love your updo in your new avatar! It looks great on you and makes me pine for ii thickness so I can do buns sooner.

Your hair looks great, Corvana!
I suppose everyone got some flippy-end action at this length, I don't know if I will be able to see any progress at all on the 21st due to it. It's so nice when you get to the point where it stops, suddenly the hair just looks so much longer and you wonder "when did this happen?".
I'm happy that I can put my hair up in a twist (using a big claw clip or a jeterfork), but I can't wait for when I can do buns again. I started being able to do somewhat stable ones right before I reached waist length, so quite some time to go.

Welcome and happy growing :blossom:

Thank you!! Some of the ends slip right out, as you can see haha, but I thought I'd take a pic to document my bun growth as a neat sort of other milestone!
And gosh, if it weren't for this forum, I would have no idea that my desire for thicker hair would mean that I might not be able to do half the stuff with it I can do at the various lengths I've had in my life. Makes one really shift the perspective of their own hair.
Like my hair's ability to stay curly! I've wanted curly or wavy hair most of my life, so I would often use a curling iron or later rag curls, to get them. But I didn't think anything of the curls staying for a full week with barely any loosening (seriously, it's amazing lmao), because I just thought that's how everyone's hair is! Then I made a friend whose hair couldn't hold a curl if you made them in plaster. Gave me a new perspective for sure! But I gave her one, as well, since her hair was basically magic and she literally never needed to brush it. It just slipped itself out of knots. She eventually told me that she didn't know people needed brushes and combs for an actual reason until a sleepover when she was 7. She just thought they were more for massages or to make parts in your hair! So she was jealous my hair could curl, and I was jealous that her hair never tangled while mine was a monster every morning. (of course a sleep cap has helped that tremendously) We both loved our own hair a little more after, though! Like seeing it through someone else's eyes.
ANYWAY that was a really long way to say "thank you" for both the compliment and the reminder that my own hair is wonderful and I should appreciate it more and not want someone else's more than my own.

Thanks!! It's starting to get where it feels longer, as well. I'm more aware of it rubbing on my upper back, and have had a few point of "oh a shed hair is tickling me!" and it's actually just a hair still attached tickling me.
And yes I can't wait for the end of the flippy stage! It will seem like a miracle in length progress haha. I suppose I should count myself lucky that my hair behaves itself until I sleep after I've washed it, so that I can see its progress without needing to wait an awfully long while. Another tick into the "See? Your hair is in fact pretty great the way it is" box haha.

You are very right, we have to learn to love our hair as it is, flippiness and all :p.
I'm so happy to have joined LHC. For years, I couldn't understand why I couldn't put my hair in a simple ponytail because I felt like it should be long enough but when I came to LHC I realized my thickness. I was always told that thick curly hair needed/could only be kept short but I really feel like *my* thick, curly hair needs length to weigh it down and so I can actually do some interesting things with it.
I'll be happy when my flippy stage is over. It's definitely not cute on me but hopefully I'll wake up one day and it'll be September and I'll be APL with no more flip and more style options. A girl can dream.....

September is coming up on us fast! I keep thinking it's still June, but nope! July is half over already. Next thing we know it'll be December!
I'm glad I found LHC, too! It's definitely been nice to both have a place to gush about the stupid milestones no one else cares about (literally no one cares that now I can technically make a real bun that isn't just my pony folded under, even if some pops out still), and to have a place to keep getting myself reoriented in terms of loving my hair and seeing the positives in it a lot more.
Plus it's just stuffed full of almost all the advice I could ever need!

July has gone by so quickly. Here's hoping August does as well.

Agreed, likelikepenny :) It feels great to have thrown away my hair straightener and embrace my messy waves!
