Just FYI the CV shampoo bar smells really nice, NOTHING like the Neeli oil. :D
LOL you did better than me, at first I could only last for only 20 minutes because I thought I had a bad bottle so I panicked and washed it out.:poot: Good to know! I'll definitely try it your way and do it as a "pre-wash" for an hour and then shower. Thanks, I feel better knowing that it's supposed to smell that way. I hope to see some results in a few weeks at most. From what I remember it took you at least a month to see some results. :eyebrows:

That sounds about right. But the websites I've read say it can take up to 6 months to see results, then again there are those that saw results on their first try so *shurg*.

Neeli oil has neem in it, doesn't it? There's your smell :p
I'm thinking about just getting a bunch of mini sample bars and seeing which one(s) I like best, and then ordering one, two or a few full size ones. :)
 Question: How do you store shampoo bars when not in use? I can imagine that they'd kinda melt if you just left 'em in the shower, what with all the water that's there...

Get a little metal/plastic tub, like the tiny size tupperware.

I have a little travel soap container. I dry off the soap bar as best I can and let it sit in there in the open until fully dry, and then just store it in the travel container. I also cut the larger bars into thirds, so in case my bar gets melted I haven't lost a whole one.

Ahh. Great ideas! *goes in search of a Tupperware*

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I straightened and trimmed my ends yesterday It was definitely time. I did take a picture beforehand. If i don't straighten first, my hair looks like it's about 4 inches long and I could end up over trimming. The heat is a necessary evil at times.

That was a post-wash and air dry in a french twist day. I looked like a mad woman when I took it out :D. It's not usually quite that crazy.

It's a 1/4tspn citric acid plus a pinch of ascorbic acid dissolved in 4litres of water. It's for the whole wash I believe, not just the final rinse. Just *once* I used it and had beautifully smooth, clean hair! But only once ;) Yesterday I used it and it left it straw-like. sigh!

Really glad to hear it - yay for good hair days! I was at a wedding yesterday, washed my hair specially for the occasion and it just looked stringy and straw-like. Dull too. I have been WO for a year btw, but have hard water and really struggled with it, so have been messing around with alternatives lately. Including shampoo bars, but not CV as I am in the UK.

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Hey guys :)
I did a treatment-monday today :D I put a lot of coconut oil in my hair yesterday afternoon and washed it out this morning with Inecto coconut shampoo.
After that I used the dove nourishing oil care hair mask, and boy that stuff is THICK! It's really awesome stuff :) My hair is really soft & just wurly enough for my taste :p Too bad it's so hot that i have to wear my hair up all the time..
-
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Wow Mega, that sounds like a great treatment! I've just co-ed my hair, and put some coconut oil in it. But it's really hot here today, and my oil is completely liquid. I'm afraid I put way too much in, and since it's still wet, I have no idea :o
Updo's for me too, it's too hot to wear it loose, and it's better for my hair!
-
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I'm going to be doing a treatment monday too. Not sure what I'll be doing yet, but I'll post afterwards :)
-
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Tuesday's Treatment: washing out yesterday's oil disaster :-)
But it's soft though...
-
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I'm going to do a treatment Tuesday tomorrow (yay!), but I'm contemplating what to do exactly. Do I want to do a coconut milk with some avocado oil or use my whipped Shea butter? Hmmm... decisions decisions!
-
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I have a soft spot for avocado oil, so I'd say the coconut milk and avocado oil.
Also, we're hair twins!
-
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Yay! :p I just did my first dutch braid. It doesn't look too bad.

I'm working on those too. I am finding it holds better than a french. I'm doing it at night. Maybe in a week or so it will be daylight worthy.

I agree, a french braid falls out very easily. Hopefully this stays in a little better.
Post pictures when your braid is daylight worthy! :)

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Mmmm, Coconut milk and avocado oil sounds great!!!
Curious to see the Dutch Braid pictures, only starting out myself, and definately not picture material yet :-)

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I just did my treatment early! I didn't do anything really special, I had a super crappy day at work and just took a shower, shaved my legs for the first time in over a week (sorry for the tmi :p) used a body scrub, etc. I did a really awesome scalp massage and left my conditioner on for like 10 minutes, and my hair feels awesome.
-
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Hmm that sounds great! Just proves you don't have to do all kinds of complicated things to your hair for it to look good :D
Weee, i signed up for the summer gift swap yesterday :D I wasn't sure if i wanted to join before, but i just thought 'what the heck' and went for it ^^ I'm really excited about sending/receiving gifts, it just feels better than just buying stuff for myself.

I can only shave my legs about once a week atm, I get really bad heat rash. :o

I tend to shave at least every other day in the summer, it gets so hot where I live that I would probably die if I wore pants. I've worked almost every day this week though, and DF isn't in town, so I've stopped shaving as regularly for the most part. :cheese:

Luckily I have no one to impress and leg hair so fine as to be practically non-exsistant.
-
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I was going to dye my roots today, but I think I'll have to wait until after my class, otherwise I could run out of time.
-
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
It is way too HOT! Having dense kinky hair is great in the winter but in the summer?! Plus, my hair has been feeling really dry which is odd since I don't usually have this problem during the warmer months. I cowash once mid-week and deep condition after a shampoo wash on the weekends now to combat that.
Anyway, I think my hair is going through a growth spurt, probably because I'm taking better care of myself right now. APL by September here I come!
-
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
My hair has been falling out in GOBS the past couple days. I just oiled my scalp, and as I was massaging the oil into my head, I was getting so many loose hairs stuck on my oily hands...
I'm hoping it's just stress from work and such. Luckily I go back to school in just 9 days.
-
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I'm getting close! I had my hair down to air dry today and mum touched where it was hanging to on my back - the tops of my shoulder blades! I definitely think I'll grow it longer. I'm enjoying being able to braid and bun it all up and away.
-
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Yay, my 2 new flexi8's came in the mail today :D I'll take pictures as soon as i have time, but i can already tell you they're awesome :D
-
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I've been shedding a lot too. I'm not alarmed, but it's gross. I don't like having hair every-frackin-where. Blarg.
I've been re-evaluating things. After reading here I've gone through myriad emotions and I think I've made TWO big decisions! (Well, as far as hair goes-lol.)
I'm growing out my bangs, which I've already said. This is exciting and daunting all at the same time. I can totally do this.
BUT what's more? I've decided to stop coloring my hair. I'm freaking out a bit over all of this, but the reality is I really want to grow it and get it healthy. I figured that stopping the chemical dye would be enough, but I'm wondering about henna now. I know it's conditioning and strengthening which is why I've gone back and forth about it. But after a few conversations with hair folk I decided that it's better, for now, to just grow it and see what happens.
The bangs are no problem, I can grow those without too much of a headache. The coloring, or lack thereof? I'll need support on. I don't love my natural color since having kids. It was always quite auburn and most called it red. I lost most of that red after kids. My hair completely changed. As of a year ago it was my natural color and I just felt I looked so drab. My hairdresser (who's worked with me for 15 years) said it happens and helped me get it to my old color. Then we turned it up and went really red. It's made me so happy! But, it is damaging and I know this. So.....I'm done.
I'm skeered!
-
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Well if you really like the red then you could try henna, but i don't think it'll be as bright as your avatar picture (i assume that's your current haircolor?). Do you bleach it at the moment to get it this bright? Or is your natural haircolor really light?
I'm sure you can do it, good luck with whatever you decide to do (though i think the bright red looks lovely!)

thank you! it's not quite that bright right now, it's a little more subdued. I've never bleached my hair-it's pretty light!

If it's light then a suitable henna mix, possibly with some red direct deposit dye should give you some awesome colour.
-
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I third henna. It did wonders for my hair and if you're committed to red hair it is perfect because it will not fade. Did I mention it makes hair shinny, strong, easy to detangle and your scalp happy? Yeah henna rules. :D

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I have crazy red eye in this first photo-but these show the coloring a bit more:
http://i1192.photobucket.com/albums/...lory/-18-1.jpg
http://i1192.photobucket.com/albums/...lory/-13-2.jpg
that's my crazy red.
natural is more like this:http://i1192.photobucket.com/albums/...1-30at1724.jpg
I know the photo is dark and it's hard to tell, but it's a light-ish auburn.

Yay for red hair! I think you will probably love henna, because it is so bright, lasts so long and leaves your hair happier than it started :)

MY GRAH-TOE SHIPPED!!!!! 'course, I don't get to play with it for about another week, but I can hardly contain myself! I am so freakin' excited. I've bookmarked the page with the tracking info and I'll be watching it like a hawk until it's delivered. I'm actually considering having DF pick it up for me when it arrives at school and bringing back home to me so I'll have it a day earlier :p
