Took my four week measurement yesterday. Sadly my hair only clocked in about 5/8ths of an inch for the last four weeks. I know that is just above the average, but when I'm used to 3/4 - 1 inch per month it's discouraging. Looks like the winter slow down is well underway. My hair averages about 10 inches of growth a year, and I know when it picks back up in the spring it will grow like weeds. I just need to be patient and wait it out. It has felt like it's added some good thickness the last few weeks, so that's nice. I also know from experience that about this length it will grow out as much as it grows down until it adds some weight in the length. The very ends are getting caught in the towel, but I think I'll be hanging out in this thread for a while longer until the bottom layers get solidly to APL.
Just popping in to say :cheer: to all of you! I just recently got done with that aggravating phase myself, and now am in the push from APL to BSL. Best of luck to all you, and may the hair demons never lead you astray!
Hi everyone! I've been on a bit of a hiatus in this thread lately, but I'm popping in again!
@blace: [Sorry for such a late reply!] In December I had measured my hair before doing the inversion method for a week, and then measured again after, and it seemed to have grown half an inch. I was doing it at the end of the month, so I'd already gotten about half an inch from natural growth. Added up, my hair grew an inch in December. I have no proof that the inversion method is what truly caused my hair to grow, but it seemed to have worked!
I did it again this month, but I really don't think it helped at all... Idk though because I'm not measuring until February 1st.
I'm growing out my bangs and they've grown an estimated somewhere between .75 and 1 inch since December 1st. I had to judge based from a picture and then measuring based on my face, so it's not super accurate. Feels like they're growing at a snail's pace, even if they're not :(
My bangs now cover my nose entirely when stretched. I'll feel like I've actually made progress once they reach my mouth.
When stretched, I'm unarguably APL in front, even maybe half a centimetre past. I have honestly no idea where I am in back stretched, but my mom said about 2'' from the top of my bra strap [That would put me past APL and I KNOW I'm not! -_-] My only saving grace is that getting to BSL is going to be a breeze, as it's only 3'' from APL. Once I've gotten past BSL [wavy], my hair will be the longest it's been since I was 10! [My hair was ~APL wavy when I cut it, and probably BSL stretched!]
Anybody else been having hair dreams? I had a dream the other night that my hair was juuuust long enough to cover my nips [that sounds so weird, lol] and that's where I'm going to be at the end of this year, assuming all goes right! It was like a premonition, LOL ;)
ETA so I don't make two posts in a row:
Oooh ooh! Me me me! I got excited about this too! My hair almost touches the ground when I do the inversion method :D
Hello! I'm on this part of my journey too. Im almost there, I can put my hair in my armpits (haha) and it definately goes below them when it's straight or wet. I can't consider that actual APL though... has to be when its curly and dry. Here's the length photo I took a couple days ago:

I dont thin kits exactly straight on but I didnt want to aggravate the person taking the picture because they tried a bunch of times and got the same thing. Better than me doing it :)
When I washed my hair the other night I let it air dry for a while and then went to comb it out so it didn't dry in a funky position. As I went to comb the longer layered side of my hair (growing out uneven, choppy layers, ugh) I noticed that a couple of spiral curls had formed in the longest layers. My hair isn't really curly, it just has long drawn out waves and occasionally a spiral curl or two will pop up after it's gotten wet. The other side of my hair is still chopped up enough that I'm still getting quite a few flippies over there where the waves are trying to form, but I'm really excited that the longer side is getting long enough for waves and a few curls. That means the short side isn't far behind. I feel bad because I really love layers when my hair is longer, I just hate them when they are this short. Oh well, all my hair has to do with its time is grow.
I have finally trudged past CBL and am heading to APL slowly but surely but my layers make hair seem so much shorter.
My layers start at the nape of my neck so it will take a full year to get them evened up more. Will have to keep microtimming the bottom layer so things start to even up. I wish I was growing out something more even lengthed. Keeping layers in good shape during grow out is hard as the seem to take on most damage.
I've been dealing with trimming layers out too. the difference used to be like five inches but now it's only 2. or three I've just been slowly trimming away at it... it still sticks out in braids and stuff though enouh to annoy me
