I also belong in this category, so I'll come and write about my length woes from time to time. ;) Right now it's at that irksome point when the longest hair barely reaches the armpit, but only when wet...

Look closely at your ends. Do you see splits, 90* bends close to the ends, white dots, or other damage? If it's not too bad, you might try clarifying, followed by a SMT to see if it helps. Another option is S & D. (If you can get a family member to help you with it. Your hair might be too short to do yourself. I do mine by looking in the bathroom mirror and wearing a white shirt--something that contrasts with your hair color.) You might be able to get most of the damage out that way.
Sometimes, my ends get bent up from little braids or other updos. I also deal with "velcroing" on the ends sometimes, but clarifying and some S&D usually takes care of it.
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Yup, definitely seeing the splits and bends...
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I swear I will never put hairdye on my whole head again and use the curling iron so often. Totes my fault. Makes me a bit sad.
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I just hit an unusual milestone: when I pull my hear straight up (I was working coconut oil all the way to the ends), my fingers can barely reach to the ends of my hair. Anyone else at that point?

I just oiled my hair before reading this...or else I would have checked. I rather doubt that I'm at that point though. I have some short layers up top.
Congrats on your milestone! It's funny how it's the little differences and changes that always indicate change for us.

emilylightning - thanks :D
We have the same birthday wish ... only mine is the beginning of May.. Inversion method.
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
All of these mentions of the inversion method are making me want to give it a try. Do you have to oil your hair each and every time though? I started last night and oiling/washing that often seems a little excessive for me personally. I guess it is only for a week though...

I don't ...I only massage my scalp for a minute first... oiling every time just seemed excessive to me
