Congratulations, that is such a wonderful milestone. Things will get easier from here on :)
I, on the other hand, will probably regress a bit, hahaha. Gonna go to my stylist tomorrow after almost a year of abscence and trim my hair back so the ends only touch my shoulders.
I want a nice thick hemline :)

Which is honestly the only thing getting me though this stage. I want to wear my hair toys again! So close! Just gotta hold on through it.
Have been mostly wearing my hair down to enjoy it at this length (honestly is less damaging to my hair than constant ponytails are, and I want to enjoy my hair down before summer really hits and I start melting). I’m hoping for a good rate of growth this summer! APL seems so far away but I think in a few inches it’ll start to feel longer and that’s all I want right now.
A picture, because it’s looking longer lately
p.s. Congratz on reaching APL, trip! And so close for you, _fred_ :)
Thank you! :)
It's such a nice feeling when you finally have a blunt hemline! Also I love that half-up, your hair is so cool!
I've been wondering that about it being less damaging wearing hair down at this length than in ponytails etc.. think I might stick with mostly wearing it down until I can use sticks without them falling out every 5 minutes :D

I was a bit sad about my hair since I last posted here (long story short-ish: I cut blunt bangs, then health issues arrived + huge doses of antibiotics caused a guite big hairloss, am probably i instead of ii now), so I stopped obsessing over my hair and have been doing benign neglect since.
Today I noticed my hair (stretched) reaches APL at the front, and got curious about where it reaches at the back,, turns out it finally is APL, even unstretched as well! :cheer::happydance::graduate:
I Wish I could post a picture of my success (still don't know how to do it, lol,,)
My ends have some split ends, and feel a little dry though, so I have not decided if I should do a small trim and maintain this lenght for a while or graduate to the next thread. :)
Congrats on reaching APL that's amazing!

Some of those ends were most definitely fried. I remember noticing it at the time with portions at the front, and vowing never again on the straighteners. This definitely helps strengthen my resolve!
A question for everyone - what's your fave hairtoy at this length?
Right now mine's
my super cheap metal two prong fork that I got on eBay, I use it most days.
That's so cool you can S&D now! I haven't got any hair toys yet, have just been using paintbrushes :D but definitely want to get some soon to help motivate me! Plus I really want to try out hair forks.
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
So i trimmed my hair and i wonder if i am still considered shoulder length... If not anymore, i will wait a month and come back lol :D

Which kind of ribbon hair tie? I've been using the ones that are elastic ribbon tied in a knot to tie off braids, and I'm loving them. I also love the look of flexis. I've not bought one yet, but I stalk the swap forum for them when I have spare cash. I've also been looking at the 'make your own flexi' thread and thinking I might have a go.

My favorite hair toys are my claw clip for peacock twist and my jearsy scrunchies for low pony. I can't wait to use forks and sticks, but it seems I need much more length.
I hate it when that happens too, and I'm totally with you on rough stylists. I don't think they really care about the condition of their clients' hair, just on making it look good so the client will go away happy - which I can kinda understand considering how little it sometimes pays. That said, burned hair and scalp (and scorched ears in my case!) are not fun, never mind the damage! I love the straight look my stylist can achieve without straighteners, but I probably need to ask if she'll use a lower heat setting the next time I go.
There's a lot of support for claw clips, I totally see why!
I kept coming back to forks and sticks, and have only just reached a length where my grabby hair can bun more comfortably with a fork. Not quite there with a stick yet though.

Congratulations, both on getting to APL and on your hair looking so lovely! :cheer:
LOL! The way things are going, you'll have graduated by the time I get there!
Stray_mind That looks gorgeous! And so thick. And it's resting on your traps, which are a part of your shoulder. Up to you where you call the boundaries, but I think you can legit call it shoulder there.
Another question for you all! Does anyone know of anywhere that sells wooden claw clips? There's so much love here for claw clips - I love them too, but I'm really hard wearing on mine and end up with a lot of broken teeth, which means plastic waste. I'd rather get one that's more robust, even if I have to save up for it, and especially one that won't lead to me putting more plastic in the bin. I've been looking around online, but can only find wood-effect, not wood.
I've got a few metal claw clips, but they're super heavy and not that comfortable to wear. They might be better once I have more length though.

most of them are faux wood though....
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I came back. I used to practically live in the community, but then we had a couple of moves and I cut my hair back to a bob. It's a couple of inches past my collar now (20 inches) so I am calling that shoulder length? I'll try to get some photos tomorrow or the next day. Anyway, I am glad to be back here at LHC and am shooting for at least waist length eventually.
